British passenger's airport line-cutting 'hack' has people fuming: "This isn't funny at all"

A British tourist has received backlash online after a stunt at the airport attracted controversy from thousands of users on social media for being 'insensitive' and 'selfish'.

In a video that has now gone viral on TikTok, a man named Wolf Jenkins pretended to be sick or injured in order to avoid standing in line for more than two hours at an airport in Turkey.

When leaving Milas-Bodrum Airport in Turkey on June 16, Wolf Jenkins took off one of his shoes and socks and acted as though he had sprained his ankle. He also adopted a limp to complete the 'disguise'.

The 28-year-old was then asked by airport staff if he had a form certifying that he was fit to fly, but he responded that he could walk if needed because his ankle was only injured while he was travelling to the airport.

However, the staff members furnished a wheelchair for him and pushed him around the airport so that he could get to his seat on the flight without any problems.

"Amazing what taking one sock off can achieve," Jenkins wrote in the caption of his now-viral TikTok video, where the British tourist is seen taking off his sock in order to give the impression that he has sprained his ankle.

Jenkins received guided assistance, which included being escorted on and off of his flight and skipping a two-hour line at security.

While all of this was going on, his friend and 'accomplice' can be seen laughing to himself as the airport personnel wheel Jenkins past the guards who are unaware of what was happening.

Jenkins and his friend were supposed to sit in different sections of the plane, but the flight attendants even gave them a whole row of six seats all to themselves so the "injured" passenger could sit comfortably and extend his legs.

The two of them arrived in the UK safely and Jenkins can be seen grinning the entire time while still in a wheelchair.

At the end of the one-minute video, he puts on his sock and shoe without showing any pain and emerges from the wheelchair, beaming with pride, and strolling off while laughing.

In an interview with a news outlet, Jenkins explained that the prank was a way to ensure that they would make it to their flight on time.

"I flew from Bodrum (Turkey) to Bristol (UK) at midnight. When we arrived at the airport, the queue was out of the door, and we knew we would have missed our flight," he said.

"I'd say around a two-hour wait to get through security and check-in at least. The queue outside the airport was insane, I didn't expect it at all. I saw people in wheelchairs being pushed through, so my friend waited in the queue and I went outside and took off my shoe and sock."

However, the video, which has been viewed more than one million times since it was uploaded, has caused controversy on the internet, with some people condemning the act and others praising it as clever.

"I mean no offence, but I am concerned for the people who actually use and require wheelchairs and are unable to board flights because others do this," wrote one user in the comments.

Another agreed and added, "This isn't funny at all, especially considering that some of us really, truly need this!"

A third person also warned him, "Be careful because what goes around comes back around. Coming from a wheelchair user."

What are your thoughts, folks? Was it "reasonable" for the man to fake his injury in order to make it on time for his flight? Or was it appropriate to call the act "insensitive" in the first place? Let us know in the comments below!

It is a pity morons like this inconvenience everyone else but it is OK for them. Me only culture. These are the parasites of the society. They are abusing a great facility put in place to assist disabled, elderly and injured. I have extreme dislike of imbeciles like this person.

I'm split on this one. Clever but also wrong at the same time. I agree that Karma might catch up with him. It all depends on whom else may have been adversely affected by his actions. It's unfair on others who did the right thing. They should have arrived at the airport earlier. But all in all it's a NO from me. Now that they've been caught out, there should be a fine or flight ban, especially as they bragged about it on social media.

Karma goes around....how thoughtless...no respect.....I need wheelchair when flying....and the only way you know is by stiffness of leg....other leg....muscles go out of alignment......not funny when you just drop for no reason eh???!!!
Next time ....get airport with maximum time......or sleep at airport..... one day it could really happen......won't be laughing then
You BIG KID YUK!!!!!!

I always have a little innocent item to declare at customs in my carry on, after asking and seeing what it is, they let you through without even checking your luggage.

Maybe the staff should have insisted that he see a doctor. He would then have certainly missed his flight.

Hubby has trouble walking because of his RA but we lined up like everyone else on our way to the UK last time we visited but coming home, because of all the walking we'd done he'd had to buy a walking stick to give him extra stability. We weren't looking for it but were very thankful when someone let us go through the 'fast' lane,, even though we weren't far from the front of the queue we were in.

Not impressed at all by his antics. His action was unreasonable & l believe though he claims this only happened on his way to the airport, should have been seen by a Dr at the airport. Would like to have seen the authorities call his bluff & wheel him, not to the plane, but away from the plane & make him miss his departure while his mate does not.

A British traveller's "hack" to skip lines at an airport has made a lot of people angry. Credit: TikTok/@wolfjenko.
