Bride lashes out at her grandma for leaking her 'secret' wedding gown photos

Content Warning: This article contains explicit and abusive language that may be triggering or distressing to some readers.

For most brides-to-be, the wedding dress shopping experience is a cherished memory saved to look back on fondly for years to come.

But for one bride, the magic of finding her dream gown was shattered when photos of her in the 'secret' styles ended up uploaded on social media—leaked by none other than her beloved grandmother.

The bride said she has always been close with her grandmother (who in this story we will refer to as Nana), who helped raise her after difficult times with her mother.

So when she took the grandmother along for an emotional wedding dress shopping trip, choosing her three top contenders with tears of joy, she trusted her Nana completely to keep the exciting finds private.

Little did she know the secret would soon be splashed across Facebook for her friends and family to see.

Confused by smartphone apps and privacy settings, well-meaning Nana accidentally uploaded the photos of the top three gowns, intending to send them as a private message.

The grandmother made matters worse by unintentionally making one of the photos her profile picture on Facebook, with the other photos posted on her Stories.

The bride only saw the uploaded photos the morning after their shopping trip, which meant it could have been hours after the photos were up online.

But the damage was done, and her family and friends quickly liked and commented on the dress photos publicly shared on social media.

'I am absolutely crushed by this,' said the bride. '[The photo] is currently still up, and my entire family has seen it or commented on it.'

The bride demanded her grandma take the photos down and told her the mistake had 'hurt her deeply'.

The grandmother was apologetic when her granddaughter confronted her about the incident.

'I'm so sorry; I was trying to send you the pictures. I don't know what I did that it showed up there,' said Nana.

'I'm not sure how to take it down. So very sorry. I wouldn't do anything to hurt you on purpose. I love you.'

However, the bride was having none of it and went as far as personally going to Nana's house to 'scream' at her and take her phone. She also banned Nana from attending her wedding in expletive-laden replies.

The bride posted the whole ordeal on social media, and while many agreed she had every right to be upset, most felt her verbal attacks and banning Nana from the wedding crossed a line.

'Okay, being upset is understandable. Her reaction is not,' wrote one commenter.

Another said, 'My grandma has no idea how to use Facebook, and I could see her making a mistake like this. Honestly, though, this is such horrible behaviour over an accident.'

A third called out the bride for her hurtful words, saying: 'How can you call your nana your rock and then literally send abusive messages and threaten her? This is actually one of the worst things I've ever read…'

I get she’s hurting but she really needs to let it go now. Hope she can make things up with Nanna. If she doesn’t go to the wedding they will both regret it.

I'm one of those old biddies who do silly things on phones. So, I rarely post anything. I completely understand how easily this could have happened. Such is the price for model technology and social media.
As far as this terrible bride is concerned, I hope it rains and her wedding is outside.
Gran raised the girl and probably gave her love and support all through her spoilt entitled life. Quite frankly, I don't think anyone gives a fig whether they see the wedding dress beforehand, especially when it was not on her body at the time.
This girl needs a kick up the rear appeture. I wouldn't want to go to the wedding. I hope Gran has cancelled the wedding present order.
the nana needed to confer with the granddaughter first. Your wishes are as hurtful as what happened. have you a nasty attitude?

Don't know why but cow, comes to mind.

It really disgusts me the way the grand daughter spoke to her Nana, that is one nasty evil human she needs to apologise to nana ASAP . The relationship is broken now and not really repairable, nana will always love her but will never respect her granddaughter again so very sad. Bitch of the year grand daughter.

Poor Nana. It was a mistake. The way the awful granddaughter is carrying on you'd think a murder had been committed. She sounds like a very spoilt, self-entitled woman and if Nana has done anything wrong it's perhaps having a hand in raising her to be this way. My heart is breaking for Nana. Granddaughter needs to get a grip, pull on her big girl panties, forgive her Nana and move (I'm actually feeling sorry for her husband to be).

Disgusting behaviour from this horrid little Bridezilla! Yes she wanted to keep her choices secret but that is no excuse to abuse the grandmother who had helped her so much.
Totally agree - nasty behaviour and unacceptable - I feel for the grandmother

Pressure got to the girl, but unfortunately her true self shone out. Hard part nana will still love her

Honestly it's just a Wedding Gown, and is not worth destroying a relationship with the One Person that gave time to rear you ,too much emphasis is put on Weddings and the Paraphernalia, the Money could be better spent elsewhere, like on a deposit for a Home

If Grandma is paying for the wedding she should withdraw the offer and kick the brat out, who cares what she is wearing, poor husband is in for a miserable life.

the nana needed to confer with the granddaughter first. Your wishes are as hurtful as what happened. have you a nasty attitude?
I don't believe it's appropriate to judge others' opinions on this site. One of the reasons I joined Seniors Discount Club, is that I've always felt that it's a safe space to express myself. Lately I've noticed other members gratuitously criticising other members. As seniors, surely we have a level of maturity that allows us to read the opinions of others, privately disagree, and keep scrolling.

Not hurtful, just honest.
Your off hand comment about ignorance not being bliss show how little understanding you have for someone who fluffs an intention with one slip of the finger, simply because of a lack of knowledge. If the girl had any feeling for her Grandmother, who most likely put her life aside to raise her, she would try to seek understanding that people like us sometimes get this modern technology thing wrong.
Did you actually read what happened as a result of this and how she treated her grandmother?
I'll remind you (Copy/Paste)

'I'm not sure how to take it down. So very sorry. I wouldn't do anything to hurt you on purpose. I love you.'

However, the bride was having none of it and went as far as personally going to Nana's house to 'scream' at her and take her phone. She also banned Nana from attending her wedding in expletive-laden replies.

It is not the end of the world for the bride, but certainly a nasty, hurtful reaction against the person who raised her when others perhaps couldn't. She has banned her grandmother from the wedding. There was no mention of who is paying for this wedding. I hope it's not grandma.

Do what I do when I see an article which is of no interest to me: scroll past. Everyone has different interests. It really isn't up to you to tell the team what they should be giving us readers.

Good luck to the husband to be. He'll need it. What an absolute b*tch.
My thoughts exactly! The hubby to be should be wondering what might happen if/when he upsets the biarch he’s marrying!!??
I’m not surprised by this - it’s pretty much par for the course with some of the women getting married these days - it’s all for the look of the wedding & not much for the meaning of what you’re doing! Let’s face it, marriage nowadays is not “until death do us part” it’s more like “until further notice”!!!😅😂🤣
What goes around comes around lady!
But poor Nanna! She’ll go on loving this ungrateful wench like every Nanna does, it’s called “unconditional love”,
something this pathetic granddaughter might want to practice if she wants her marriage to last & a relationship with her lovely grandmother!!🤨

i would be angry too. this Nana needs to be very repentful over this and should not have done anything without the granddaughters consent. ignorance is not always bliss.
There is also a saying “forgive & you will be forgiven”!!
Let’s hope this ungrateful, entitled woman doesn’t need forgiving one day (as she invariably will) & gets the same treatment back! As I said, what goes around comes around!!!!🙄
