well isn't this news long overdue, they have jacked up the prices for so long and all they have done is make massive profits at our expense. Looking after our customers.......what a load of B/S, all you do is look after yourselves and your shareholders. Stop taking your customers for fools Woolworths......we've been aware of your greed for ever.

I can't get over the price of Woolworths canned peas. 80 cents per can before the pandemic and now it is $1.80 per can. That is a 125% increase!!

put the price up gradually, then offer a discount, that is in fact still higher than the original price- so it's dearer then the original. This has happened all areas, not just food, even back when I was a teen (70s) and mum worked in fashion where they did that. Remove original ticket put a new one on with higher pricewith price slashed, so didn't have the original ticket to compare to, but it was higher than the original. She later worked in electrical and same thing..

Which to me only proves that there's been a bit of price gouging, not without saying the avrage prices are still to high..

I just wish SDC would completely stop promoting all 4 supermarkets. We all have to eat, so we know what's going on in the thieving supermarkets. They have increased prices numerous times, even though the product have decreased in size and weight!
SDC newsletter will be more interesting if replaced supermarket promotions with travel promotions etc

If anyone truly believes that Woolworths are slashing prices then more fool you.
They are simply reducing the price of 450 lines by less than they have increased them over the past 9 months. Every other item on the shelves have also increased are will still increase to cover the cost of the reduction of the 450 items.
Woolworths just announced a disgustingly high profit today.
Don’t be fooled!

so they take 15c off a product and then charge 50c for a bag to put it in...not bad they don't have to buy plastic bags now (saving the environment, ha ha) and make a fortune on the paper bags at 1000% markup....we really ARE stupid. I used to shop all at one store, but now I shop at all 3., woolies, coles Aldi...and I save about $40 pw. (I spend about $160pw) and I get extra fuel dockets

Lol….I read this to my hubby who is our primary shopper. His words were an echo of everyone’s here. Basically,”well, they jacked them up 50 per cent over 12 months and they’re dropping them by 40? Not such a great saving”.

What bull💩 dropped price's 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣they put everything up by as soon as there is a crisis 🤔not straight away but price's went through the roof now they say they are dropping price's what a joke 😳 don't be fooled by this South African owed company 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
You do realise that this Woolworths has absolutely nothing to with the South African company?

The same that it never had anything to do with the US or UK companies of the same name.

I love the idea of the price drop but much of what is dropped in the way of packaged items can be their own brand and a lot of them are made overseas. This takes away income from local producers. I am willing to pay extra for local products. One example is garlic, most comes from China and the other is tinned tomatoes. Lots from Italy and other places. SPC is still Austrlaian

SPC may be Australian owned but they import from Thailand, China, chile and other places. Things like pineapples and mango which we grow here. This happens because they can’t get some products in commercial quantities, so they say.
this is stated on their website.

Yes but not always Australian products, where as product of Australia is all Australian products.

They say that but it’s B/S Australia grows more than we need , then again people are gullible aren’t they.

Strange. Woolies put the price of sourdough bread up to $7 about 6 months ago and dropped it to $6.50 about 2 weeks later. So this i s not a valid price drop. Usual b.s. from supermarket chains.
your right on the money with that!
