Beautiful Poem by Member Dennis R.​

This is my time to set out, what will I leave behind,

Unwanted baggage of any kind,

Take things which will fit into a pack,

For this is what you will carry on your back,

A strong pair of shoes and water too,

These will carry you every day through,

Mile after mile down unknown track,

Never a thought of turning back,

At the end of the day I go to bed,

Under myriad stars I rest my head,

Before my sleep my thoughts ponder,

Of the rest of the journey I must wander,

Then one day I will reach the end,

The Lord may tell me it is round the next bend,

Whatever the outcome there starts a new life,

All sins forgiven and the end of my strife.

I loved this so much I just had to share it with you all. A big thank you to member Dennis R. for taking the time to write this and send it to us!

My Poem
Best Medicine

I wrote this in 2004

Life is full of fun and laughter
Children are happy
What more could you ask after
Happiness is, Gods free gift in life
Smart people know
And stay out of strife
You work hard all day
You come home to rest
You’ll do it all tomorrow
It’s part of life’s test
You know of sorrow, pressure pain
A big storm is coming,
You know it’s gonna rain
So laughter triggers something in your brain
Which helps alleviate, all that pain
You have to be brave, you have to be bold
Laughter: It’s the Best Medicine
The best that I’ve been told

The first two of five verses:

My teecher tort me very wel
How to rite and how to spel.
But wun thing she didn't menshun,
Was how to giv my full atenshun.

Reeding, riting, and rithmatic
Wer sum of the things she maid me pik.
But she mite hav nown I wood spend mor time
On other things - like booz and crime.

Smiling Is Infectious

Smiling is infectious,
you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner
and someone saw my grin.
When he smiled I realized
I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile,
then I realized its worth.
A single smile, just like mine
could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected.
Let's start an epidemic quick,
and get the world infected!
