Aussie couple's holiday from hell: 'Dreamy' island resort is anything but paradise!

Now that spring has arrived, bringing with it warmer temperatures, cooler nights, and longer days, most Aussies have already begun making preparations for their upcoming holiday getaways.
But folks, we must advise you to proceed with caution and do thorough research before travelling because what you find there at your destination may not match your expectations.
We would hate for you to have the same unfortunate experience as this family of three had when their 'dream' vacation turned into a 'nightmare' because of the resort they were staying at.
Mish and Kirk Ryan-Welsh, a young Australian couple who just had their first child, decided to take their son on a memorable family holiday they hope he would never forget in the years to come.
So they planned a trip to Daydream Island, a supposedly 'dreamy' tropical paradise where they could stay in one of the many luxurious, modern suites with breathtaking views of the ocean, pool, and gardens.
When they finally got there, however, they discovered that the island resort shown in photographs and videos online did not resemble the real thing at all.

The couple documented their whole trip and shared footage and images on TikTok, revealing just how neglected and poorly maintained the island resort was.
According to what we can see in the video, the resort's famed pool appeared to be extremely dirty, and the entire island was littered with broken furniture and empty facilities. We can also see that the whole area wasn't well taken care of because several rubbish bins were overflowing with waste and food scraps.
Even eating in peace was impossible for tourists and guests because seagulls were terrorising the dining area!
In a lengthy caption that they posted with their video, the Aussie couple also mentioned that the room they booked was unkempt and dirty (there were ants everywhere), and also, the food served in the restaurant was not enough for everyone.
To make matters even worse, they also alleged that a member of the staff was rude and even went as far as to insult their baby, Jiah.
Mish and Kirk continued by saying that they wished they had done more research before reserving their stay because the resort wasn't as nice as it looked in the marketing materials.
'False marketing images show white sand beaches - there is no sand on this island, only rocks and coral since cyclone Debbie in 2017,' they said.
'If you don't book dinner a week in advance, you won't get a table at the restaurant, and they don't offer room service, so you'll have to eat takeaway pizza for seven nights straight while being attacked by seagulls.'
'Lesson to be learnt - never book a fancy resort you see on Instagram before reading the hundreds of negative google reviews!'
Fortunately for them, they were able to forgo hundreds of dollars worth of lodging, and they were able to find another location to stay.
Following their time on Daydream Island, the family continued their family trip to Hamilton Island, where they had the complete opposite experience.
Several media sources have asked Daydream Island for comments, but they haven't heard back yet.
Since China Capital Investment Group (CCIG) took over management of the resort in 2015, Daydream Island has been getting negative reviews on the internet, with most users saying the fees are extremely overpriced and the island's severely understaffed.
You read it here, folks! This should serve as a warning to anyone who hasn't done their homework on their destination before planning a trip there; otherwise, they can end up with a similar holiday from hell.
We hope you have safe and enjoyable travels during this spring season, members!
