This is not a new scam. I have had numerous over the years. Format is always the same. And it's usually very wordy. Just sit back and think about for a little bit. My first thought was, hmmm I dint have a webcam.

Had about five of those so far this year. Way back in 2018, someone made the same threat and quoted one of my previous internet passwords! That was a bit spooky until I made a counterthreat using a faction of the Russian Mafia as my minders! Not another word said!

I received an email saying they had proof I had been on pornography sites and unless I transferred $3000 evidence would be sent to all my contacts.

I wanted to reply 'go ahead' or reply with 'dickhead' but just deleted it.

I thought later how this could make someone very nervous, even though they were innocent, thinking someone might send it to the person's contacts. And how someone might actually pay it.

Yep there are scumbags out there everywhere parasites the government or Telecommunications companies should stop this garbage 🗑 from getting to people but more interested in their profits

I am forwarding them on to Scamwatch. I recently had an offer from Mrs Biden of $10mill from the White House. And others with money at the airport to give Me if I just give them some details. All sent to Scamwatch. I hope they catch them I’m sick of it. I don’t answer my landline anymore, if it’s someone I know they leave a message and I ring back. There was a time when we never feared to answer the phone.

The scam that Suzanne got may have originated by someone using Facebook. My friend got this scam over a year ago and I advised her it was a scam but she is still not happpy that this person is going to spread untruths about her to all her contacts. Well I am one and have not had any information sent to me so it certainly is a scam and very frightening. In fact this person took over her Facebook name and placed his photo on the page and she could not go online, he said he had so much on all her devices. He wanted an amount of money sent to a account for Bitcoin. She did contact the police but they said they could not do anything about it.

I returned from an overseas holiday, checked messages on my landline and a foreign voice told me that the Federal Police would be coming to arrest me for fraud and tax evasion. I did not sleep that night, l soon realised that it was a scam and reported it to scam watch.

LAtes scam received yesterday - Warning that my Bigpond (in 2 different colours - VERY OLD logo) email security settings were outdated and i needed to change them. I always look at the sending address for any unknowns. This one came from iinet!!!!!!!. Do they really think most people are that DUMB. So make a habit of reading and checking before pushing the button to click thru the links. Saves lots of grief and stress

I recently received an email purporting to come from a company that I do buy from online. It told me that my order could not be completed as my payment had not been honoured and I would need to re-submit it. It looked very official, mentioned the exact amount of the transaction and included a link for payment.
As I had just that morning picked up my parcel from the post office and it contained my complete order I immediately knew it to be a scam as there is no company on this earth that would send items unpaid for.
I sent a copy of the email to the company involved, notified scam watch then deleted the email but it is scary that they knew exactly how much was involved.

Another scam lands in my Junk Folder allegedly from Joanna Gaines and Omaha Steaks with no subject or sender address. It states an offer for a meat pack with various cuts of steak. No price is given.

However, the bottom of the email states a real physical address in the US to "unsubscribe" which leads to being bombarded with a flood of scam emails from all sorts of BS businesses. The address is " 6130 W Flamingo Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89103". This address is home to businesses such as a photo booth, a mail centre and a passport service as well as private residences.

A word of advice? Delete immediately without clicking on ANY links.

I’ve been getting the ones from yahoo. Surprisingly good ones with the correct letterheads and looking very good but they’re telling me all about the porn and spam my address is sending and if I don’t click these links to verify my account,I will lose my account in 7 days. I have the almost perfect answer to these kinds of emails. My email client has been configured to consign any and all emails, from addresses not in my address book, straight into the s**t bin. It is also configured to add to my address book, those addresses to whom I post, so no genuine address is deleted.

The reason I use an email app, is that I do not trust Google Yahoo et al to do a decent job of filtering this crap. In addition, it gives me total control of what i see, even if I cannot stop it from coming.
