The Aussie actor-turned-musician shared the lovely photos on his Instagram page, along with a lengthy caption describing the wonderful experience of entering fatherhood.

“I have been blessed with another incredible lady in my life and a new ability to see beauty in this world that I was not ready to discover until now,” wrote Mark as he shared photos of the touching moments after his wife’s childbirth.

Then, he introduced his daughter to the world.

“Bursting with love and gratitude, I share with you our daughter, Soma.”

Mark also added how life-changing the experience of childbirth can be, saying: “There’s no greater right of passage a human can go through than labour and giving birth. The gravity of how unexplainably challenging and profound it is holds a power I didn’t know existed.”

“Lollie, thank you for choosing me to partner you on this journey,” said Mark to his wife, thanking her for the extraordinary gift of life. “I’m in awe of you, and I promise to be the best husband and father I can be.”

Laural, who won as Miss New Zealand in 2007, announced the news of her childbirth as well on her own Instagram page.

“It’s hard to put in words the past few days, but I’m forever changed from the experience of childbirth and becoming a mother in the best possible way,” said the mum.

“It’s true what they say there’s no love like this, and we are falling deeper in love by the day.”

She also described how wild and challenging, yet amazing, the process of giving birth to a child can be, and she wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of her husband, Mark, and her sister, Sharaine.

Soma Furze was born on Saturday, January 8, at 7:04 pm, weighing 2.8 kilograms.

Several friends and fellow TV personalities congratulated the couple for becoming parents.

Chris Sebastian, who won The Voice Australia when Mark competed, congratulated the two, saying: “She is perfect, congratulations guys!!”

Aussie singer-songwriter Guy Sebastian congratulated the new parents as well, and said he can’t wait to meet Soma.

The happy news came after the couple suffered a tragic miscarriage in August 2020.

“It's difficult to open up and post the hard stuff on social media, but it doesn't feel right only posting the good. We all go through hard and dark times, and for Mark and I, this week has been an incredibly sad and tough week,” wrote Laural in an Instagram post at the time, along with a photo of herself and Mark in the hospital.

“We found out the sad news the pregnancy isn't viable, and I've had what's called a missed miscarriage where my body still thinks it's pregnant, but the fetus hasn't progressed.”

“Pregnancy loss isn't talked about much, but it's actually really common and happens to 1 in 4 pregnancies. I guess we were the unlucky 1 in 4 this time…”

She added, “I wanted to share this here because it doesn't feel right just pretending this huge life event hasn't happened to us. I want to respect it and be open about it.”

The two have been married since 2015 and are now welcoming the new year as a family of three. We send our love and wish them all the best as they enter the next stage of their life!
