    Bonnet hair dryers

Yep Mum and I used one of these hairdryers. We both had very fine hair so it didn't take long to dry. I remember I didn't like the noise it made and how your ears got quite warm in the plastic bonnet. Thank goodness for modern drying and styling tools!

What’s one little thing that made you smile this week?

Like all the grandparents on this site my special thing was my 2 year old granddaughter in a video on the mobile saying I love you Nan Nan and sending blow kisses. She is such a cutie.

    Who remembers Dave Allen?

Dave Allen was a great comedian whose relaxed style made it feel like he was sitting in the lounge room with you. He had a quirky sense of humour and was very funny.

    Life Edcuation Van

When my daughter was 4 the van visited her day care and she absolutely loved it. It was informative and age appropriate for little ones.

One hundred million what? Shoppers confused over supermarket's unexpected prize pool

I only knew what it was as my 6-year-old granddaughter likes Roblox games strictly under parental supervision and she has a time limit for screen time. As computers, internet and mobiles are all part of our world we can't just put our head in the sand about it. But as an individual you don't...

What was your go-to game as a kid?

Its so true that a lot of our favourite games were outdoors and active. I can relate to a lot of the games other members have written about. I think the best thing was we didn't have a lot of expensive toys but we had so much fun. My brother and I also collected Matchbox cars and had quite a...

    Pizza Hut

We loved the Pizza Hut restaurants - always a good place to take children for a meal and Mum and Dad could have a glass of wine too.

    General Discussion Thread 05.05.2025

Apart from looking after my 6 year old brother after school and in school holidays (I was 13), my first real job was working in the mail room at a firm in Sydney who retailed car and truck spare parts. I also had to catch the bus into the city and deliver documents to offices such as the...

    Bank Books

I think the bank book was a great visual record of your savings prior to the digital age. It was also the time of many bank tellers and lots more branches everywhere. Nowadays there are just two tellers at the local NAB branch and customers are intercepted to see why they are there and can...

A rare glimpse into King Charles’ health journey–you won’t believe what he revealed

Hi Mikeyboy - hoping you are recovering well and the future is looking brighter. It's a hell of a battle that tests the patient intensely. I found my family to be the most amazing support and even my little dog would not leave me and sat glued to me all the time during my recovery. Happy to...
