We love beetroot and I have always enjoyed it on burgers and with salads. I was bought up with it and eat it regularly. Try tinned salmon with beetroot on a fresh roll, delicious.

    Globite school bag

I had one of these in primary school, they came in different sizes and were really sturdy school bags. I had mine for quite a few years. Not sure what they were actually made of but it was kid friendly.

    Old oil heaters

I think you are right but they are similar. We had the Vulcan Oil Heater and it was so good when it was below zero outside. You can't beat reverse cycle air cons though, so easy.

    Hecla toaster

I used to have one of these many moons ago. Don't know how many toasts I burnt but I was good at it. Thankfully I now have a fully automatic you beaut toaster that does everything including not burning the toast providing it is on the right setting.

Back to the future: 1970s video sparks time-travelling debate on financial struggles of today's youth

I agree: how can the young ones even get into the market with price of homes today, you need a couple working and earning huge salaries to to do that. Full time work is a thing of the past, its mainly part time and casual now. Just to get a rental is hard and very costly. I hope the government...

Back to the future: 1970s video sparks time-travelling debate on financial struggles of today's youth

That is true, you just have to do your best with what you've got. We went through 18% interest rates rises and it was hard economically, we knew friends who lost their properties and couldn't afford the repayments as interest rates rose back then. With only one wage coming in and two small...

    Chicken chow mein

I made this last night for the family and they loved it. I did add some capsicum. Using the thigh fillets is much better than breast as it retains the moisture and flavour better. The prep took me a while as I don't have to rush anymore. But it all came together really well and we loved it...

Australia mourns loss of two icons: Football legend and pop music star pass away

Being a former WA resident I do remember John Todd. I used to live near Swan Districts oval in Bassendean and you knew when someone kicked a goal. The Eagles were a fantastic team in the early years and produced some very talented players over the years.

I'm with AHM also for dental and optical and for quite a few years found them to be fairly good. I have Black 60 cover. Don't have any hospital cover and haven't for years as it is way too expensive.

    Walking to school

At this time of year I have memories of walking to school. I had to walk 2-3 kilometers to primary school and in winter I remember crunching through the frosty grass leaving footprints. It was freezing cold for a skinny kid. Coming home was really cold but at least the frost had melted. I...
