14 of the most annoying ‘Americanisations’ of the English language

Why does every suggestion, tip, or hint about tedious chores have to be a 'hack'? I'm not a spy breaking into secret computer systems, I'm just trying to minimise bloody housework!

Shopper complains that his chicken buy is 'underweight', Woolies responds

Where was this story dug up? There's a TikTok image showing the packaging label compared with the customer's scales (which could be wildly inaccurate). "Best before 24.05.20" - maybe the story is two years old, or maybe the chicken's wet from decomposition. Or has it been frozen since 2020...

Shopper trends after sharing frustration over Coles’ trolley return system, prompting a major debate among users – which side are you on?

In Katherine NT, Woolies had the trollies with wheels that locked if you tried to leave the underground car park. Quite a surprise if you didn't know and tried to get to the street-level parking, but not a mistake you'd make twice!

    a Scottish one

I've seen this one elsewhere. If you can't see it, you're not missing much. It wasn't funny the first time.

Mum's DIY glasses rack amazes fellow glasses wearers: "That looks amazing"

You'd think Dame Edna could afford to pay someone to make that ....................

Aussie mum slams Aldi after slipping over littered grapes, resulting in SERIOUS injuries – “This is NOT okay.”

I take it you have perfect eyesight? Not everyone does. Green grapes, and especially their juice, are hard to spot against a neutral colour like a supermarket floor.

Aussie mum slams Aldi after slipping over littered grapes, resulting in SERIOUS injuries – “This is NOT okay.”

I haven't seen grapes in sealed bags. Are they all the same weight? I don't usually buy prepacked produce because the packs are far too big for one person, so I hope this idea doesn't catch on.

Kmart shopper's unique Mother’s Day gift sparks heated debate on social media — “I would never put my mum at risk!”

If you look at the second photo of the cooler, the temperature range is clearly shown on the store display. I haven't checked, but I'd bet that the same info is on the label attached to each item.

Prepare oranges in less than 10 SECONDS with this trick!

Mandarins have loose skin and don't make a mess. I'd rather not be arrested for carrying a knife in a public place 😱

    Healthy baking tips for diabetics

I don't know where you are, but here in WA the people at DiabetesWA are very helpful. You should be able to get advice or information from someone like that in your state.

    Healthy baking tips for diabetics

The only person I listen to about food choices is a qualified dietitian. I have type 2 diabetes (controlled by diet, no medication). Every piece of advice I've had from GPs, magazine articles, well-meaning friends etc has been contradicted by another equally plausible piece of advice. I've...

Mum reveals tip for scoring cheaper groceries that could last for months

I don't think "(c) the money" is an issue in this case, as she says she uses AfterPay to spread the cost. Of course that facility, being a form of credit, isn't available to those of us with no credit history and a low income.

Aussie mum finds 'strange' detail in her pack of Coles crumpet rounds

One of my past employers did business with a major food manufacturer. They used heat stamps, so no inks came near the product.

Aussie mum finds 'strange' detail in her pack of Coles crumpet rounds

Ummm .......... the customer is in NSW and the packet has the 'Made in Australia' logo clearly visible. What are you trying to say?

DO NOT reply to this ATO scam text message!

OMG!!! "Wake up" yourself!!! Possum Lover wasn't taken in by the caller and no harm was done. It was just an anecdote. It's a bit rude of you to assume they were fooled. Calm down and read what they wrote.

Coles’ “As Seen On” aisle makes it easy for you to find trending items on social media!

This might have been mildly amusing if posted on the right day, but nearly a week late is just a silly waste of time.

Woman on disability support pension breaks down into tears in front of senators, asks for enough money to afford food

What's the point of setting an official 'poverty line' at $457 a week? What's it supposed to mean? According to that, I'm well into poverty! Luckily I don't have any significant health issues.

Everything you need to know to receive the $250 one-off cash payment for pensioners

Most of my income is frozen at 2013 rates, and is too low to be taxable. I'm 70 but can't have the Age Pension until May 2023, so there's no help with rent etc. However I do have the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card which qualifies me for the one-off $250 payment. Am I moaning? Not really...
