Channel Nine sacks veteran journalist over mass layoffs and wage disputes

With all the replays that are on every channel, is it any wonder people don't want to watch their programs. I will not pay to view any of the pay-to-view channels so just turn my TV off. Great way to save money on the cost of electricity to run the TV. Thanks Channels 9 & 7 for finding a way...

Protect your homes from one bathroom item sparking a surge in house fires

Why would anyone think a heat lamp is a hidden source of danger? It's a heat source, therefore it is a source of fire. Why would you have it on if no one's in the bathroom & needing heat? With the cost of electricity these days it's something that should be turned off immediately after use to...

Customers share their outrage as prices of one popular egg brand go through the roof!

If you are on a fixed income why would you even consider buying Pace Eggs? They are no better or worse than WW own brand which cost me $5/dozen a couple of days ago.

Customers share their outrage as prices of one popular egg brand go through the roof!

It would cost me approx. $60 to travel to Aldi so that is not an option. Not everyone lives within walking distance of multiple supermarkets. Many of us have little/no choice but to buy from WW.

Bus fares skyrocket 26 times from $2.50: ‘That’s incredibly expensive’

They were lucky to have this service in the first place. If you live west of the ranges there is no bus/train to travel from small towns to places like Dubbo or Tamworth for medical care. We have to use Community Care cars & pay (the last time I used one it was $75 & this has probably...

Survey finds millions of Aussies struggling to afford these essential products: ‘It’s heartbreaking’

Sunlight soap (aka common soap) is also good for hair washing. Shampoos are just full of detergent to give the bubbles so a waste of money. Sunlight soap is also good for washing up. Just rub it around your dishcloth a few times to get the bubbles flowing & you're away with good sudsy water.

Survey finds millions of Aussies struggling to afford these essential products: ‘It’s heartbreaking’

Shampoo is a fairly recent (?) commodity. When I grew up my hair was washed weekly using good old common soap. No conditioner in those days either. We have to find our way around the expensive things in the supermarket & look at what our parents/grandparents used in the past. These things...

Shopper slams Coles after accusing her while at self-serve checkout: ‘I was embarrassed’

They can close all the checkouts if they want but I will NEVER go through self-service checkouts. Big W tried that during Covid & I just said "No. I'm not paid to do that job". They soon found someone to come & man the checkout. I trained hard for the jobs I did & have no desire to retrain...

Shopper slams Coles after accusing her while at self-serve checkout: ‘I was embarrassed’

No, it's not easy peasy. For me I would have to drive 200 kms each way to shop at Aldi or any other supermarket than the one in my town.

Shopper slams Coles after accusing her while at self-serve checkout: ‘I was embarrassed’

Not everyone has a choice of which supermarket to shop at. Try living in a small country town & you will soon find that you have one (or 2 if you count IGA) supermarket to shop at so you just have to put up with all their c**p.

You won't believe what this dog did in a Guzman y Gomez that has Aussie diners outraged – see the 'gross' act now!

Read the article again. It says that they were asked to leave the restaurant as soon as the owners were aware of their dog on the bench.

Why does this obscure policy at Woolies infuriate shoppers?

I have to shop once a week as it is a 90km round trip to go to the supermarket. We don't all have a supermarket 5 mins down the road. I also popped in to shop on the way home from work when I lived in a major city on the coast but with a change of residence it means a change of shopping...

Travel trouble: Measles scare in Aussie state after overseas trip highlights vaccination gaps

Yes there are. Many children are unvaccinated as they have parents who think that their kids don't need it. There are also many adults bc this was not available when we were children. I had measles as a child so got my immunity that way as did many of my generation.

'Disgusting' Kmart find draws ire from social media: 'I thought it was marbled!'

If it's on sale then buy it & save some money, then take it home & give it a good wash. After all, it's only dirt & your child will put plenty of that on the cup when using it while running around the house/yard while still drinking from it.

This 'tacky' detail in a wedding invitation sparks outrage: ‘I don’t want to sound rude at all’

If a bride (or anyone else for that matter) sent me a registry list from which to choose a gift or told me they wanted cash not gifts, then they would find that I came without any gift. I consider that it's rude to tell someone what they want as a gift unless specifically asked & then remember...

Proposed bill aims to fine businesses and individuals up to $25,000 for refusing cash payments

I refuse to have electronic communication from companies. This is just another way they save money by pushing the cost to us - cost of necessary computer, cost of internet, cost of electricity to run it, cost of security (e.g. Norton) to protect us from scammers, cost of printer & paper to...

Proposed bill aims to fine businesses and individuals up to $25,000 for refusing cash payments

They still have to pay tax as the transactions goes through their books. They are avoiding paying the bank fees for using a card. I will always support companies that take cash, although sometimes I am glad of my cards when my cash has run out in my wallet.

Proposed bill aims to fine businesses and individuals up to $25,000 for refusing cash payments

and it doesn't cost the banks anything to process these transactions as they would all be done on their computers. They are just ripping off their customers. Maybe their should be a fine for banks that charge a fee for transactions using cash cards, credit cards might reasonably attract a fee...
