I have just installed a Rheem hot water system. Does anyone know whether the booster switch on the wall should be turned on at all times, ie., 24/7? Or it only needs to be turned on when you need the hot water? Thanks🙏

Hi ya'll,
I am Chris from Australind - WA - one of the new kid's on this block ;)
Excited to being a part of this club, interested in finding any discounts to help benefit me in making my life a little easier.
I'm always looking for new creative things to do, mad keen gardener, love pot plants, furniture restorer & adore repairing broken concrete garden statues/gnome's giving them a second chance to impress instead of being cast out into rubbish tip.
Have a talking male budgie named "Buddy" and my life companion is Maltese- Shih Tzu - Toy Poodle boy named "Mydnite" (Mydi for short) - he is black in colour hence the name. He loves to play soccer, fetch & chasey, so he keeps me young.
Thanx for listening to me, have a great day!

I thought you only turn the booster switch on when the water is not hot enough coming from your system (usually winter), so you turn it on for 30mins to an hour to get what you need, then turn it off again. Saves you money when NOT on....

Popped your question into Google and got this result ............. (@Jim Low )
Yes, the booster switch on a wall for your Rheem hot water system should generally be left on at all times to allow the heater to automatically activate when solar energy is low and ensure you have a consistent hot water supply. The booster is designed to heat water when the solar gain is insufficient, activating only when the water temperature is below the thermostat setting and turning itself off once the desired temperature is reached.

Why to leave it on
  • Automatic Operation: The booster operates automatically, heating water only when needed.

  • Consistent Hot Water: Leaving the switch on ensures the system can meet your hot water needs on cloudy or cold days.

  • AS 3498 Compliance: Leaving the switch on ensures the system has sufficient time to operate daily, which is required to meet the Australian Standard AS 3498.
