PayPal scam.

I often use PayPal because of its security features and good track record. Nevertheless,! I have been hacked. Someone in Canada. I only use a debit card, but the scammers tried to spend 2,000uS on my account. I was alerted by PayPal of suspicious activity, so I had to block my debit card, then cancel the card. I’m still waiting for a new card from the bank. To my fellow readers, please be careful! PayPal is not as secure as you think. Gezabel.

Thanks

We use only PayPal because of the security offered so this is a real concern to us.
Is there any additional info given to you by PayPal you can share please.
Did you receive the normal notification email from PayPal of the payment at the time of the so called purchase?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I only use my pay pal to pay for my bills that are linked to my second account, like Timu & my phone account if the money is not in the account then they can't take it like Norton are always trying to do. I just delete the emails.

I have never used Paypal, but keep getting sent information my Paypal account needs to be renewed,
I send to scam and block

I receive emails often from Pay Pal. Always delete as they are scams.

I never click on any emails for account stuff info. I will always go through the app and check any notifications from them. 99.9% of the time it's a scam. Still things happen though.

I've used Paypal for years, they're great until you have a problem. I'm looking at alternatives. Any suggestions?

i was hacked a year ago but only lost $9.99. I had foolishly listed a bank account to pay money into in make payments. I removed my banjk account details and stoped using paypal.

Wow , I use PayPal thinking it's secure but I may change the way I pay.

Thank you

I have used PayPal for years with no problem. When I have had a dispute they have sorted it to my satisfaction.

Yes, same here. I think PayPal is one of the most secure ways to pay online.

For almost 2 decades I have used PayPal for its security. Initially and it remains now, that security comfort was because I did not have to use my credit card details at multiple online stores. PayPal was the gateway that hid all my data. Doesn't mean it's 100% safe, just a whole lot safer.

The story does not have enough detail other than to give one some concern. It would seem that no $ were lost and it was PayPal that alerted their customer. The main concern by the person is one of inconvenience re not getting a cancelled bank plastic back yet.

Would be really useful if full details were provided pin pointing exactly how it all happened and Paypals role in the event. Did they do well or were they at fault? Only the person reporting the event knows that info. Apart from PayPal and the would be failed scammers. There is a bank involved as well??

I use PayPal all the time. When an item didn't arrive I told PayPal and they straight away refunded my money. Very happy with them

Me, too! But I'd love more details of how this happened

I have used Pay Pal for 20yrs never had a problem. The credit card attached has a very small limit just in case.

Not always possible in rural areas.
Maybe, but I always drove up to 700 kms round trip for something I REALLY needed when I lived in a regional area.
