It is believed that the elderly secret lovers were murdered after vanishing in Victoria's High Country in March 2020, after witnesses reported that a dark blue mid-1990s Nissan Patrol was spotted attempting to leave the campsite late on the night the couple disappeared — ruling out the possibility that the pair staged their disappearance.

Victoria Police Special Operations Group arrested the man in East Gippsland at 5:30 pm on Monday.
The man was set to be interviewed by police on Tuesday morning.
Police said: “The investigation into the matter remains ongoing and further information will be released when operationally appropriate to do so.”
Russell Hill and Carol Clay, aged 74 and 73 respectively, were last seen alive in Victoria's remote Wonnangatta Valley, 350km northeast of Melbourne, on March 20, 2020.
The missing campers' campsite was later found to be burned down, with Mr Hill's vehicle also damaged in the blaze.
Victoria Police confirmed that no charges had yet been filed as of the moment but investigations are ongoing.
