You won't believe this strange detail that left a Coles shopper speechless after receiving their home delivery

At Seniors Discount Club, we know that many of our members have embraced the conveniences of modern living, including the ever-so-handy home grocery delivery services provided by popular supermarkets like Coles and Woolworths.

Not only does it save time and energy, but also allows you to browse and shop from the comfort of your own home. For seniors, the benefits of online grocery shopping are numerous - convenience, time-saving, ability to compare prices easily, and even reducing the strain on knees and backs that can come from walking around a large supermarket.

However, as with any service, there are sometimes mix-ups and surprises along the way. Recently, one baffled Coles customer found a very bizarre and unexpected detail in their home delivery order, leaving them speechless - and a little amused!

Taking to Facebook, the shopper shared images of their most recent Coles Online delivery, showcasing what seemed like a normal order. In the photos, one can see five paper bags filled with various groceries, however there are various items including eggs, garbage bags, toothpaste, and a saucepan scattered on the floor.

But wait - it gets even weirder! The shopper's confusion escalated when they identified a very strange detail lurking amongst their order. Though most of the items were packaged as expected in Coles-branded paper bags, there was one bag that seemed a little out of place - a Woolworths paper bag, making a surprising guest appearance in this Coles delivery!

'This is how my Coles order was delivered today! Yes, including the WOOLWORTHS bag!' the baffled shopper wrote in their Facebook post, sharing the odd discovery with the online community.

So, how on earth did a Woolworths bag sneak its way into a Coles home delivery? As reported by 7NEWS.com.au, Coles is currently investigating how this mix-up occurred. It's interesting to note that both Woolworths and Coles source their paper bags from various locations, including Australia, China, and Vietnam, with both companies' bags manufactured in Vietnam. Could this be a clue to the mystery? Perhaps a factory-level mix-up is to blame?

This peculiar incident comes shortly after Coles announced they will be phasing out their 15 cent reusable bags, opting to follow in Woolworths' footsteps by introducing a 25 cent paper version instead.

Believe it or not, this isn't the first time Coles and Woolworths products have found their way into each other's territory. Back in 2021, a Coles delivery driver in Tasmania shared a surprising discovery on social media. While delivering crates of Coles branded three-litre full cream milk to a store's dairy section, the driver noticed that five crates of Woolworths-branded three-litre full cream milk had somehow hitched a ride in the delivery.

Curious and bemused, the driver asked, 'Woolworths milk at Coles? How come this happens?'

I also shop online at Coles and on occasions, they substitute items that are not appropriate, recently I ordered Fisherman's Friends original and receive a packet of Panadol,? painkillers in place of a throat lozenge they even displayed at opposite ends of the store, I think the picker was too lazy to walk the distance.

Because of the items left that were bagless, maybe the driver broke a couple of the flimsy bags and used one of his own Woolies bags and what was left over dumped at the front door. Hey but does it really matter if the customer received everything they paid for. By the way you can thank the Greens for us having to now pay for the bags to pack the store groceries in. You can also blame them for high electricity prices and white ants in your property because of their aversion to pesticides and coal.

Thankyou Seniors Discount Club for bringing this to our attention. There are many people that need to rely at times on home delivery, and when we do we trust that they have selected and packaged items with the quality of care and attention to quality that we would ordinarily undertake for ourselves. Naturally always better to go shopping for yourself wherever possible. Although from my perspective it does not always seem to be the case, at least Senior Discount Club are providing a balanced approach in terms of providing informative information which we may not necessarily be aware of. By letting everyone know about these sorts of issues, it should coerce the major retailers in reviewing their processes. Thats assuming of course that they care.
