A number of years ago now but 4 of us had been to woolies and bought chicken and salads for a meal. It was a packet lettuce mix that had been washed. We were eating when one of us bit into a dirty brown band aid that was in the lettuce. Appetite spoilt along with the meal. Returned to the woolies store with the evidence and remaining product, store manager issued an apology and said it was a supplier and should have been using blue band aids, he refunded for the meal and was meant to report the incident. Never heard anymore from woolies. So this is not the first time woolies have heard of it happening.

It does happen that bandaids fall off when you least expect but I thought everyone had to wear gloves when handling food? A bandaid can't fall into food through the glove!
 
The thought occurs that if staff with hand lesions were deployed elsewhere than in food preparation this couldn’t happen. Glad I don’t buy fresh, prepared stuff much but even tinned goods have been found with foreign and very unwelcome items in with their legitimate contents.

I remember years ago I found a chrysalis in a bag of flour and after I phoned I had a house visit followed by a food hamper for my trouble for reporting it. How times have changed!

Came home from work one day to find a box on the doorstep absolute chockers with Kelloggs products and a letter of apology. Time was you got this sort of treatment, but no more. A full refund not acceptable for this muck up. Poor person probably having nightmare about it all.

The days of large firms caring about what the customer felt was wrong with certain goods have long gone. It is the fault of the customers who want more than they are entitled to. Too many complaints for tiny, insignificant incidents can kill the wish of firms like Woolworths the right thing even for big firms too much has been done to upset the applecart. I know of a family that regularly makes demands for minor mistakes that they often manufacture themselves so they can get the item free & their money back luckily they are not friends of mine just friends of friends. Their friends are constantly calling them out on their habits. But so far have not reported them to Woolworths. I feel the only way anything will make them rethink is for them to be caught.
 
Blue band aids are given to staff in food shops eg McDonald's, woolies must also give these to staff.
What I don't understand is the staff who were making these should have had gloves on as well !

Glad I make my own salads which you can find the recipes in the recipe section, at least you know what goes into them

I remember those days, my daughter found a hair in a redskin she was eating, call up the manufacturers and within a week someone had come out took the lollie apologised and left this humongous basket of lollies that lasted my five children about six months how times have definitely changed
 
Working in food industry for many years, wound covered with blue Band-Aid’s (which is suppose to have a metal strip in in for detection) are suppose to be covered with blue food safety gloves.

Yes - I dried frog in a packet of mixed lettuce leaves which I reported to Woolworths via email with a photo of the packet with the frog displayed on the packet. I got a lengthy answer as to how it may have got there and was offered a $50 gift card which I accepted.
