Woolworths BBQ roast chicken mishap shocks social media — “What’s the go here?”

Usually, nabbing a roast chook from Woolies is an easy way to get a delicious dinner eh? You expect plenty of food, or at least enough to feed the whole family right? Well, one customer was shocked to find her roast chook just wasn’t up to scratch.

The customer posted photos of the supermarket's BBQ chook on Facebook, showing how the hot roast chicken was smaller than her hand.

She said that she was disappointed and "unhappy" when she unpacked the chook only to find out that it had "shrunk".

The customer wrote: “Geez Woolies… what’s the go here?”

“Hot chooks have gone up to $11 but seem to have shrunk… a lot!”

A Woolworths spokesperson commented on the incident, saying that the supermarket is currently investigating the unfortunate incident.

The spokesperson said: “We pride ourselves on the quality of our BBQ roast chickens and are disappointed to receive this customer’s report.”

“We’ve contacted the customer for more information so we can follow up with our supply partner directly."

“We’re not aware of any further reports on our BBQ roast chicken products at this time.”

It is understood that the incident is a separate case and Woolworths is currently coordinating with its supplier regarding the case.

I stopped buying whole chooks a while ago. Apart from the fact they seemed to have shrunk to the size of a sparrow why pay for something you can't eat - bones. I now only buy boneless chicken breast or thigh pieces. That way I'm not paying for something that is going to go straight in the bin.

This has been going on since they raised the price over a year ago - more like sparrows now!! I always used to look to pick out the biggest - don't bother any more. Cheaper to roast one yourself.

I have noticed over several months the size of the roast chickens are smaller. When purchasing one I take a good long look before picking one out. The chicken is smaller but the price is still the same. Come on Woolies....fair go, this is not a one off thing that is happening.

The last time we bought one it was almost incinerated so that was the end of buying a cooked chook and yes the size has diminished two people can only get one meal so the leftover charcoal is thrown in the bin.

Funny you should say that about the chickens, I was in Coles today and their rolls have the same problem. Who do they think they are fooling?

It's so easy to cook a whole chicken in the air fryer. One hour is all it takes.
and it tastes better to be honest, and is not dried out from sitting there for a bunch of hours. The other thing you need to look at is how many people have wiped there face there nose scratched all the other places and then handled the bag to open it up a bit to see what the chook looks like, and then you come along drop it in your trolley take it home and feed your family. Wash your hands after doing anything in a super market now days, they are disease ridden places just waiting for an out break and they will have millions of dollars worth of Solicitors ready to get out of any claims, trust me, and I am not a clean freak, just have a think!!.

I don't have an Aldi
Nor do I and it is an absolute disaster being ripped off by Coles and Woolies.
I used to cook a chicken in the micro wave when I was a youngster, took about 20 minutes I think and was fantastic in one of those roasting bags with some spuds, and would cook other vegies on the stove while it was microwaving. Since got married and am not allowed to do it anymore..."Stupid Idea" apparently!!
