Totally agree. I do not do internet banking so the scammers will find it hard to get to my a/c. I do not add apps to my phone. It's a phone - not an office suite.

I think Woolworths should go back to having ample check out staff. By trying to replace people with machines, they deserve what is happening with theft. People will always find ways to get around machines but it’s not as easy to get around check out staff.

I’m not so time poor I can’t wait my turn. I’d rather interact with a person than a machine. I already choose to do more of my shopping in supermarkets that have manned checkouts. If Woolworths wants to automate and introduce more technology at the expense of employing staff, I will shop elsewhere. That’s not to say that technology can’t be useful, just that I’d prefer a choice.

I too would not do banking on my phone, I have a plastic card and that does it all. Who knows where your information is going....to be on sold to companies to make your phone a nightmare with messages. I'll continue to go to IGA , I find they stock a lot more of Australian Made commodities compared to Woolies and Coles and they certainly have happier checkout people.

Well! Someone making sense...No:1 3.8 million will become very conservative. No.2 The Scammers and Hackers will have a field day. It is too easy to hack a telephone... Anyone can download an apps onto a phone and then track their kids who have a phone. No: 3 Many phone owners read emails on Mobile Phones .. now comes the hacks that download a prog. from an image or a link that activates just by scrolling over it. Watch so many autoplay videos on the phone now, how do you think that works ... Right scrolling activates them.
I say be very careful with apps on Mobile Phones ... Hackers script them by the hundreds.
Television is reporting so many people losing money from their banks (Millions, almost weekly or some daily.
The information needed by a hack may well come from a Mobile Phone Apps (similiar to a free game apps or even recipe or other apps).
Therefore I research and research again before apply an apps. I don't install any apps that is designed for financial matters OR requires all personal information. Remember, if it is too good to be true then in most likely is NOT true.
Finally, If I have to use my phone to shop at Woolworths I will NOT buy from them.

The only time I use the self serve section of any Supermarket is when I have only one item to purchase and even then I check to see if there's a staffed checkout available as I believe that supermarkets have priced items to include a service fee therefore I want to be served by a real live breathing person who is there to provide service to me and with whom I may form a relationship based on service. It is so nice to go to the counter and have someone serve you who has a smile and a kind word to say and with whom you can have a conversation. Not keen on machines that blast out instructions and beep if you put a bag in the wrong place. Good, old fashioned service is what we need as there is so little personal interaction as we become more reliant on computers and machines to do things that we did for ourselves in the past. No wonder the intelligence level in Australia has dropped when people don't even talk to each other!

I agree with others commenting on here! NEVER will I, nor all my neighbours, shop at any store nor providing serviced checkout staff! We are not being paid by Woolies or Cokes to do their work for them!!

We agree, When WW & Coles give me a discount for doing their work for them, We'll consider it ! Until then NO WAY. All these innovations do is enable them to get away with employing less 'human 'staff. If they can't provide the staff, then We'll take our business elsewhere !
And when they are busy, ALL checkouts should be OPEN and MANNED - not just half of them.
