Woman shares how her husband bombards her with gifts from ALDI’s weekly Special Buys — Is this romance or a call for help?

ALDI's middle aisle is full of budget-friendly items that are tempting to buy. The prices are usually lower than what you would find at the grocery store, and the selection is good.
And let’s admit it, we often find ourselves buying things that we wouldn't normally buy because they are a good deal.
However, for married couples, the situation may be a little different…
If your partner constantly nabs strange things from the middle aisle of ALDI and gives them to you as gifts, then you are not alone.
Many people have taken to social media to share their stories of partners who seem to have a knack for finding the weirdest, most random items at the store.
One mum posted in a popular Facebook group to discuss her ‘dilemma’ with her husband who constantly comes home with random items from the German retailer.
‘Help!! My hubby has been checking out the middle aisle every week and buying up strange stuff! He thinks it is romantic and has been ‘surprising’ me with ALDI gifts as if it is a weekly Valentine's Day when he returns with 50 tea towels, a weird owl ornament or a lint remover,’ the woman wrote.
‘And I have been acting really surprised and so touched for the last few weeks.’

The post has gone viral, amassing more than 1,600 likes and hundreds of comments from group members who said that they relate to the mum’s ‘cute yet hilarious’ problem.
‘My fella is always coming home with stuff from the middle aisle, nothing I can do though...he bloody works there,’ one woman sarcastically said.
Others said that their in-laws have a similar habit as the mum’s husband, with one user sharing: ‘My in-laws pop into ALDI together after church every week. The whole shed is pretty much fitted out with ALDI products’
While some people — the author of the post included — were left wondering what on earth they're supposed to do with all of this stuff, others find the gesture romantic.
One person wrote: ‘He is showing you he loves you still. Let him buy his weird gifts. Be grateful for what you have rather than don't have. Bless his heart.’
“Mine got me a heated blanket too because I'm always cold and work nights so he turns it on for me for when I get home at 5 am. That was super nice,” one woman shared.
Others offered their suggestions on how the mum can make use of the extra gifts that her husband gave her.
One user advised: ‘Use the towels as emergency gifts for friends. They will appreciate them.’
‘I have a supply in my cupboard as well as the battery-operated salt and pepper grinders!’
Another recommended: ‘Thank you for the laugh! Use the tea towels to wrap gifts and tie them with string or tape. Wrap them around a bottle of wine when you go to a friend’s place. You may use them up eventually!’

Several women also advised the mum on how she can manage her husband’s habits without causing him any conflict.
One comment read: ‘OMG taking hubby shopping each week would be a nightmare. Thank goodness mine is not that way inclined. Advice: leave him at home with a list of chores to do.’
Another shared: ‘My late husband was great for picking up random stuff from ALDI. We ended up putting in a rule on if he could buy it.’
‘Our rules include answering the following questions: (1) do I need it or want it?; (2) will it be used a min once a week for at least 6 months?; (3) do we own something similar already; (4) is it practical?’
‘He had to be able to answer all 4 before he was allowed to buy it (same for me) except for once every 3 months we could each buy a “want” item.’
So, what's the deal with all of these strange purchases? Well, it could be that your partner is just trying to show you how much they care. After all, what's more, romantic than surprising your loved one with a gift, no matter how odd it may be?
Of course, it's also possible that your partner is just a little bit eccentric and enjoys buying things that are out of the ordinary. Either way, it's important to remember that there's nothing wrong with being a little different.
