Woman recalls the horrifying story of being vomited on by a fellow passenger during a flight

Members, don’t read this one while eating.

We have all had our fair share of bad experiences when travelling. Sometimes flights are delayed or cancelled, and other times, we get stuck next to a chatty person who just won't give us a moment's peace.

But no matter how many bad experiences we have when flying, we can all say with confidence that none of them come close to the nightmare that befell one woman during a recent long-haul flight.

Angelina, an American nutritionist, was on a 13-hour journey from Bangkok to London when she found herself in the most disgusting and unfortunate situation imaginable – sitting right next to a man who couldn't stop vomiting.

'Everything was going fine; the plane was beginning to just take off, everyone was getting their seatbelts on, you're getting situated,' Angelina recalled of the beginning of the flight. 'You're minding your own business reading a book.'

But as soon as they were up in the air and it was safe for passengers to move around, this guy whipped out his paper doggy bag and started throwing up into it. And unfortunately for Angelina, he didn't stop there.

'A couple of seconds later, he throws up again in the doggy bag,' Angelina continued. 'You're looking straight ahead, pretending like it's not happening two inches away from you.

Then Angelina said the man threw up another time, and the girlfriend finally leaned over and tapped her on her shoulder and asked: 'Hey, can we have your paper doggy bag? We need another one,' to which she complied.

At this point, you may be wondering, 'Why didn't he just get up and go to the bathroom?' Unfortunately, this tragedy occurred as the plane was taking off, right when the flight attendants were checking to make sure everyone was safely buckled in.

Angelina desperately reached into the pocket in front of her for her doggy bag, as the man's vomiting showed no signs of stopping. Luckily, a passenger in the aisle across from her saw what was going on and gave her an extra vomit bag right away.

But at that point, she realised the impending doom that was about to happen.

'I turn over to give [the extra vomit bag] to the couple, and I notice that his paper bag is full to the brim. If he throws up another time, it will literally overflow,' Angelina recalled.

'At this point, I'm holding the paper bag so that they can put the other paper bag in it because the bottom of the paper bag is so full of throw-up that it's starting to break.'

And then the unimaginable happened. Before the two women could put the full bag of vomit into the new one, the bottom of the full bag broke open, and all of the man's vomit spilt out onto his lap.

And yes, the vomit also made its way all over Angelina's legs and her belongings under the seat.

Unfortunately for Angelina (and also probably for the guy's girlfriend), there wasn't much she could do since flight attendants were telling passengers they needed to stay put until takeoff was completed and it was safe for them to unbuckle their belts... which meant she ended up enduring being covered with vomit for about ten minutes before she could get up and use the bathroom to clean herself off.

We can't even begin to imagine how Angelina must have felt during this ordeal. This is definitely a story that will stay with her (and us!) for a long time to come.

What do you think of this story, folks? Have you ever had any similar 'horrifying' experiences during your flights?

That would be horrendous. How much had he eaten before he boarded. Perhaps if he realised he was a vomiter he should have just had dry biscuits and water beforehand. Hopefully it was just nerves and not some contagious disease that could potentially ruin the poor woman's travel plans.
