Woman calls out Woolies on Facebook for 'destroying' her yard – was she reasonable?

One woman's outraged claim about her front yard being allegedly destroyed by a Woolworths delivery driver is prompting an online discussion about the incident.

The woman uploaded several pictures on social media showing deep wheel track marks that were left on her front lawn, and she expects the supermarket giant to be responsible for repairing it.

Sharing her frustration on Facebook, the woman called out Woolworths on her online post and said: "My yard is still wrecked by your delivery truck and it's YOUR responsibility to fix it. YOU KNOW IT IS."

She also claimed that when she contacted the supermarket company about the problem the week before, she was told that someone would reach out to her within the next 48 hours to resolve the issue.

However, she received no response from anyone.

"Well? Where the bloody hell are you?"

Although a number of fellow Woolies customers were sympathetic to the woman's plight, others had different perspectives on the issue.

A property owner commented that "everyone's lawn has marks like that from the mailman, especially after the rain," and went on to say that because the damage was done on grass, it would eventually grow back. Or, alternatively, she could just fix it herself by applying downward pressure with a spade.

Other users contended that the lawn appears to be in pretty fine condition, while others criticised the woman for complaining about "first-world problems."

In the comments, the woman eventually defended herself, saying that Woolworths employees had told her twice in private messages that someone would contact her soon about the damaged yard, but she never heard from them again.

Because of this, she had no choice but to ask her family for assistance in order to make the necessary fixes to the backyard; otherwise, the soil could become brittle and hard.

"We would have had a dreadful time levelling it out by ourselves then," she added.

A representative from the supermarket had contacted the woman in the comments section of her Facebook post, promising to look into the matter once more.

"We're disappointed for our customer who has obviously put a lot of care and pride into her garden. We'll be following up with our delivery partner and making sure our team resolve this to the customer's satisfaction," said the Woolies spokesperson.

Do you think it was inappropriate for the woman to publicly call out the supermarket on social media? Or was she reasonable due to the fact that her front lawn appeared to have been torn up?

What are your thoughts, folks? Let us know in the comments!

Just stomp on it, it will settle down quickly. Not good, but not the end of the world. I actually had this problem with a fool who drove up on our footpath too, not in our yard either, and smashed into our rubbish bins and spread rubbish over the whole area. Good thing about it is that I got to meet two new neighbours who came over to help clean it up. Silver lining.

For starters…it’s a council footpath, not your yard. Next if you stomp on it or bang with a metal rake (flat side) then it will be fine.
I know it’s frustrating but perhaps place a shrub on each side of driveway so that trucks can’t drive on grass.

Ridiculous, be grateful that she is not living in a third world country.
We are not entitled

If the woolies driver can’t tell the difference between a concrete driveway and a green lawn, maybe he shouldn’t be driving. If woolies said they would send someone to look at the damage, then they should have followed up. Woolies employee caused the damage, Woolies should repair the damage. End of story!!

WHY did the driver FAIL to use the very obvious, and solid, driveway?
There is, and was, absolutely No Reason for this lazy, incompetent driver to drive on the saturated grass!
I'd be after their blood, too!

From what I see in the photo, it's not her property that's damaged, but Council nature strip. If she's fair dinkum about repair, she should report her observations to Council, preferably in writing.

maybe the supermarket shoul get the delivery person to go back and fix it up and severe reprimand . that is just plain arrogance on the delivery person's attitude. That's the trouble in this day and age NO RESPECT for anyone's property whether it be lawn car or personal

Good grief! With all the suffering going on in the world, what has one tiny little footpath become the topic of the day. Get over it. Move on.

Woolworths should be held responsible the driver is obviously incompetent or just lazy. There is a concrete driveway why use the grass. I wouldn't be using woolworths delivery again seeing as WoolWorths doesn't bother to phone or resolve the issue.
