OMG I was brought back 50 years ago when I was in prep...thanks for the memories 😀

What about Spot, the dog?

loved reading those books

It was John and Betty when I was in Primary School, Victoria. Spot was their dog as well, I think.
We had those as well but wasn't the dog scotty
I know there were books with John and Betty but the little bit later ones was Jane , Dick and Sally

There were a few of these books in school

Some with Sally, Dick and Jane and also John and Betty.

I think one lot was for beginners and the other for older years

I loved those books. Think a couple of generations received the wonderful gift of reading through these books.

Glad to have been raised in a book loving family. Although my aunt gave me a book for Christmas one year, I was in kindergarten. Title of book? "Misery", By Suzanne Heller. I still have it. "Misery is when there are four kids on the playground and only three swings." Perhaps it was meant as an early primer for Marxism.

I have the complete set of Dick & Dora Books, used them to help teach my kids and grandkids to read. Rescued these books from going into the Primary incinerator when my oldest daughter was in Pre-School back in 1984.
