I remember having one of these when I was first married, I wonder what happened to it. Now my numbers are all stored in my mobile, lose that contacts all gone. I really only know my husband & son’s numbers. Years ago before my brain was “too full” I used to remember everyone’s phone numbers.
I know what probably happened to mine it’s probably a melted mess from the fire.🤣

This was such a cool memory, thanks for sharing it. The days of the phone being right in the middle of the house, where everyone could use it. I see a sort of carryover of this in "family" emails. I get people with emails or facebook pages called "tednbetty@domain" or "thesmiths123". Ha ha I compare it to myself, I have about 10 different email addresses and wouldn't dream of sharing them with anyone.

Yep. Mum had one of these. Very handy. I wonder how many people remember the prefix for their landline phone number. Ours was FW. Then it changed to 38. Later to 387 and then again to 3879.
I remember our phone number from when I was a kid, it was 562403, or even older: UM2403!

Where's that phone number ?

Anyone remember these and how we kept our contact numbers..

I found Mum and Dad's, when I was clearing out the house. I decided to keep it. Apart from having people in it that I'd forgotten about over the years, it's just a good thing to have and show the grand kids how we used to have to keep our phone numbers.

I was bit of a gypsy in my twenties and a girlfriend complained that she "couldn't close the teledex due to all the whiteout on my name".

Dad would hit the roof any anyone dared write in Biro in his - all pencil for easy change even though most of the addresses in there were family & friends who had lived at the same address for at least 20 years if not longer
