most jokes can be if you don't see the funny side.
Boogie has been around since the 1950 (to my knowledge)
Common saying then was "Stop picking Boogies" when someone was caught picking their nose.
I remember an old childish chant went if I remember correctly ( everybody's doing it doing it, doing it, picking their nose and chewing it, chewing it, chewing it.

ahh, pull your head in, what's wrong with people these days?
@Dougal ... Don't be too tough on the Yanks...I went to America and visited LA, Phoenix Arizona to see the giant Cactus then New Mexico and Nevada Las Vegas.
This is true the people in the street and even the Street Car Club toughies LOVE THE AUSSIE ACCENT.
I was offered Meals, Drinks and hand shakes because I was an Aussie with lots of slang and Aussie Lingo.
Albuquerque has a restaurant called the Aussie Restaurant, so I just had to visit .. Man!!! I am serious the restaurant owner heard me ask for a table for two.. Immediately, asked me where I was from and I told him Queensland Australia....He turned and picked up the microphone and announced "Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight we have a special guests here .. They are from AUSTRALIA "" Well the whole place was clapping us and as we were escorted to a table people would stand and offer to shake hands... The menu had items like ..Blooming Onion, Sydney sider Pork Ribs, Opera House Long Horn Steak , Jackeroo baked Potatoes. and lots of items like that .. It was amusing and their attempts to sound like Aussies was good for a laugh.. they would not let me pay for anything ... Drinks, Meals and Desserts ..AND THAT IS TRUE.. I was invited to clubs, The Casino and the Aussie Restaurant and they gave me the strangest look when I said ... Let me shout the drinks then.. and they were like Shout?? What would you want to shout for? Then I explained the meaning and they laughed with me NOT AT ME... This happened in Las Vegas bigtime. There were Aussies working there ... Thunder from Down under, were male performers, The pyrotechnics and stunts at Treasure Island Casino were ALL Aussies and were very talkative when I came by. G''Day Mate and the American would all stop and look around at us.. LOL ...All of this happened BEFORE Crocodile Dundee Movie came out. They laughed at my jokes and I laughed at theirs.. some I didn't understand but I laughed with them and that was a bigtime experience.

Mentioning US (so called) humour reminds me of the occasion when visiting a friend's house, he went off to get changed and I sat in the lounge room where his two sons were watching TV. They were watching a US show where two men were talking on the stage; one said "I was walking down the street and bumped into an old school chum".............(howls of laughter and clapping from the audience); "we had a chat" ...............(howls of laughter and clapping) and so on and so forth.
