As supermarket prices continue to climb, many Aussies on a tight budget are left wondering how they'll be able to afford their next grocery trip.
But don't worry, folks! Here, we're sharing with you some little-known supermarket tips that can lead to big savings.

When it comes to meat, supermarkets will often heavily mark down products that are approaching their expiration date.
By simply doing a little bit of planning ahead, you can snag some great deals on mince, beef, lamb, pork, and chicken! Just be sure to freeze the meat on the day you buy it, or cook it up into a meal right away.
If you're on Facebook, one way to find these amazing deals is to join the Facebook group Markdown Addicts Australia. Here, supermarket customers all across the country share locations where they have found all sorts of discounts.
Another great way to save on meat is to purchase it from the deli counter rather than pre-packaged. Deli meat is usually cheaper per pound, and you can often find deals like two-for-one offers.
Rotisserie chickens are also a great option, and most supermarkets will discount them 4-5 hours after they come out of the oven. Just be sure to ask your local store what time they typically put the chickens out, so you know when to arrive for the best selection.
When it comes to bread and other bakery items, you can score some great deals at the supermarket's own bakery departments.
Each day, they bake fresh items to stock their shelves but by the end of the day, they need to make room for the next day's batch. This is where you can score some serious deals, with many items marked down by 50% or more.
Just be sure to ask when your local store typically clears out its bakery items, so you know when to arrive. (A good rule of thumb is between 3 and 5 pm.)
And don't forget that you can always freeze bakery items to enjoy later!
Fresh produce is typically cheaper when you shop in season so it's always a good idea to check before you shop.
You can also find great deals at farmer's markets, especially if you go towards the end of the day (maybe an hour before the closing time) when sellers are looking to get rid of their remaining stock.

When it comes to pantry staples, many supermarkets have their own store brands which are often more affordable than the name-brand options. Coles and Woolworths also sell some staples in bulk, so you can save even more, and be sure to check the very top and bottom shelves of the pantry aisle for the best deals.
