What happened when Sam Mac 'helped' Kochie pack up his office while Shirvo 'moved in'?

If you're one of our beloved Seniors Discount Club members who love to start their day with light-hearted banter on Sunrise, you've probably already heard the news of David Koch's departure and Matt Shirvington's arrival.

Switching gears like this can be bittersweet, but it's always exciting to witness new beginnings. And just as our members know best, a 'changing of the guard' often leads to unexpected and amusing moments.

In a recent cheeky morning weather segment, Sam Mac took it upon himself to 'help' Kochie pack up his office on his final day at Sunrise. If you missed this comical segment, or if you'd like a recap of the shenanigans, here's what went down.

As the segment commenced, Sam Mac jokingly showed the pile of Kochie's 'worldly belongings' – including cherished books and even an old trophy – stacked up beside a large rubbish bin.

In a naughty move, Sam grabbed Kochie's beloved Port Adelaide scarf, which represents the AFL team that he chairs, and tossed it in the bin!

Sam stated, 'How can I help Kochie on his last day? I just need to pack up your stuff. I know that you are busy. As you can see, we have basically all of his worldly belongings.'

But that was just the beginning. Sam then led viewers into Kochie's office, which was already rebranded as the new Sunrise host Matt Shirvington's office. To add to the hilarity, a sign on the door read, 'Olympians only' – a tribute to Shirvo's previous athletic career.

As Sam cheekily entered the room, he said, 'This is your office, or it was. Someone has already taken over it.'

Upon entering the office, viewers were greeted by a wall adorned with the hashtag '#Shirvonator,' along with several amusing pictures of the incoming host and some magazine covers.

The reinvented space showcased Shirvo's instant influence on the office, as Sam pointed out, 'For 21 years, Kochie sat here. Shirvo has already had his influence on the area. Look, credit to the man, he moves fast, and he moves well.'

The segment continued with Sam revealing a 'Shirvo's to-do list' whiteboard that listed tasks such as 'Get #Shirvonator trending, get my name top billing (i.e. 'Shirvo and Nat'), more sprinting highlights, and do we even need weather?'. Laughingly, Sam responded, 'Yes, we do need weather!'

As the segment came to an end, Sam humorously remarked, 'Kochie, your desk is done. See you in 30 minutes.'

Appreciating the entertaining prank, Kochie responded, 'That is so funny, that is great. That is very clever, Sam Mac.'
