What gift would make your birthday memorable?

Hi, members! I've got a brief life update that warmed my heart, and I hope it does the same for you. Just yesterday, my nan came back home again from the US, and it’s because she’s celebrating her 68th birthday next weekend! As a senior, what gift would make your birthday memorable? I don’t always get to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday with her, so I want to make her feel special this year! Can you help me out?

Having my family & friends around.

Going to a concert and the meet and greet fan package deal to see a favourite band or artist.

Handmade by you, anything. Husband painted a card then painted a picture for me.

Take your Nan out for the day. Spending time with you and having a nice lunch would probably be her idea of a memorable day.

I am sure she would love a photo of you both in a lovely frame.
It could be one that was taken when you were a little girl, or one that is more recent.
I love looking at old photos of my Grandchildren.

Any gift from you with Gran, Grandma, Nan or whatever you call her on it will be treasured. Maybe a nice coffee/teacup or crystal drinking glass. A vessel that she will use lovingly every day.

A nice meal out to her favorite restaurant and cuisine, the theatre or my daughters took me to peninsula hot springs for the day. It’s was part of my 60th birthday celebration. Or just simply spending some one on one time with her. As we age we don’t value gifts as much as we used to and appreciate our younger ones giving up their time for a chat. I’m sure she’ll love anything you do for her.

Why not a photo album with all the families new and old photo's in it.

So thoughtful that you want to make your very special grandmother to have a GR8 HBD! Why not a High Tea at The Windsor - or at a local suitable venue - WITH A FRAMED PHOTO of you both to remember this special day!

Anything that is handmade by you because it shows that a lot of love and thought has gone into it

By now your Nan would have all the nic naks she needs….
Spend some quality time with her, ask about her earlier life, these will be great memories for you both….time is precious!!!

Agree with @ Bullwinkle. I have done gardening & handyman work for elderly people & they are trying to shed things they have amassed over the years.

A quiet afternoon tea with her friends & family would be nice for her.

Something which may or may not be appropriate for some people is a gift of your time to do a chore for her. Your time is precious to you. You are giving something of yourself in a personal manner. Perhaps she needs a room tidied or corner of her garden tidied which may take about an hour. Something she herself cannot manage. After this l am sure the two of you would enjoy a chat over a cuppa & some afternoon tea of cake which you may have bought @ the shop. She may even bake a delight for the afternoon.

Please let us know how this goes, whatever you decide to do for her.

I think it would be nice to ask your nanna what she would like to do on her birthday. For my birthday I go to my local take away, grab some lunch, sit down outside to eat. Around the corner is the nicest icecream shop, choose something that tickles my fancy. My finale is a walk along the beach.
So yes, its your nannas birthday let her choose, instead of rellies choosing for her.
Take care. 👍💕

Have a photo taken of you and your Gran professionally or on phone and have it blown up professionally.
I am sure that this be a very prized possession.

I hope you never need this but so many people these days do. Adult kids leave home and don't care about their parents. I have 3 kids, 5 grandkids, one I've never met, and 2 great-grandkids. My own children, now 61, 56 and 55. I worked my butt off and had no part in the decisions of my kids. I haven't seen any of them for well over 17 years. So many of today's kids walk away without a thought. Please kids think of what you are doing. I'd love to see them walk in the door especially my beloved eldest grand son. I still live in the same town within 2ks of where I used to be. As a JP I'm not hard to find.
