What a Boy Wants

What A Boy Wants For Christmas

David remembers accompanying his father out shopping in the toy department of David Jones one Christmas Eve.

Dad said, ‘What a marvelous train set. I’ll buy it.’

The girl behind the counter looked pleased and murmured, ‘Great, I’m sure your son will really love it.’

Dad replied with a glint in his eye, ‘Maybe you’re right. In that case I’ll take two.’

I have a photo, somewhere in my archives, of when I had a train set for Christmas. It shows me sitting in the middle of the circle of track and Dad, with my Uncle Sid, controlling the train.

Lol what a good Dad Hahaha

It seems as though when Dads get sons, the dads get to have the toys they wanted as boys.
Not only boys. I always wanted a train set but my mother told me "girls don't have train sets", so when my son was old enough I bought him one.

Well I don’t have a train set to play with
Friday night with my granddaughter we
are doing a Gingerbread Christmas Train
we have never made any gingerbread things before so wish
us luck please

I got a HornbyOO train set for Christmas in 1959 and still have it! My parents didn't think the fact that I was a girl mattered.
