What’s the best advice you’d leave for a grandchild?

G'day, lovely members! Welcome to a wonderful Monday! 🌸

A brand-new week always feels like a fresh page, and today I’ve found myself thinking about the wisdom that travels through families. Some of us are lucky enough to carry sayings, recipes, and life lessons passed down through the years—little treasures tucked into everyday life. I saw this post this morning, and it made me think about my own grandmothers.

I didn’t have the chance to know my grandmothers well, and every now and then I wonder: what advice might they have given me? Perhaps something simple, like how to make a garden bloom, or something much bigger, like how to stand tall when life gets tricky. Grandparents often carry so much wisdom, and it’s one part of life I wish I hadn’t missed.

But that’s the beautiful thing about wisdom—it doesn’t vanish. We collect it along the way, from the people we meet, the lessons life hands us, and the truths we discover for ourselves. And it’s never too late to pass it forward.

So here’s my question for you this morning: if you could share just one piece of wisdom with a grandchild, what would it be? Maybe a favourite saying, a handy life tip, or a heartfelt truth you’ve always held close. Big or small, I’d love to read them in the comments below! 💌

Never hit wet doggie doos with a whipper snipper

Happiness is a sate of mind, not a state of circumstances. Choose to always be happy and nothing and nobody can ever spoil your joy.

Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.
Be you, everyone else is taken.

Please and thank you cost nothing but mean a lot.

Also smile at a stranger when you are out and about - you may be the only person who interacts with them.

(Sadly nowadays everyone else is staring at their phone)

I do that all the time, smile and say hello to strangers, and it is very nice to get them in return.

I do also as they might be really lonely.👋

When you add life experiences up, always more good than bad.

Keep Jesus close

l was reared by my grandparents...my grandfather was always giving me good advice and encouragement. At the end of the day he said you can only be yourself and be guided by the wisdom from your elders...l have lived by that trait and it has always made me believe that l am someone that matters.

Only spend half of the money given to you bank the rest

Don't give up when life gets tough. There could be happy surprises ahead.

I had the chance to grow up with 2 grandmothers and 1 grandfather, he was blind and with my chicki sister make jokes to him, his was so smart and always new witch one was, and his wife my nan, was always cooking the things we loved. My mum's mum, she was more serious, but she teaches us respect, like muy beautiful mum. We all had to help at the farm, after my pap passed. We learnt a lot with all of them. Now I see my kids and grandchildren, and make me so proud they did learn something that I did learn from all them. I had a wonderful childhood, something that my grandkids didn't had. Sad. But we are living an other era. Maria.
