please be careful when applying for secret shoppers. I applied on behalf of a lady I was supporting. As a mobile phone number was needed and she didn’t have one I used mine. For a couple of years I kept receiving scam messages in her name ie a parcel is waiting to be picked up - click the link, plus phone calls asking to speak to her. It drove me crazy.

I wouldn't mind doing house sitting ( in another state or town ) or pet sitting but only small pets but don't know how to get in to it safely
Check out the grey nomads classifieds on facey & there are other house sitting/pet sitting facebook groups as well

Plenty of scammers on Gumtree as well.
They usually want to deal with you via email, give you a long story about how they work offshore, will send courier to pick up, etc
If they don't want to come and see what you are selling it is usually a scam.
Best to put pick up only on your ad.

Great post on generating income during retirement! Your points are spot-on, especially with the rising cost of living these days. Consulting is a brilliant idea for retirees who've built a wealth of knowledge in their respective fields.

But, if someone is looking to make quick money in one day, there are other options worth considering. One could take on simple online tasks like survey completion, joining freelance platforms for short-term gigs, or even selling unused items online.

These quick cash methods can serve as a supplemental income stream that doesn't require much time or upfront cost.

For me, it often feels like I work as a mystery shopper for free. I always seem to spot some weakness in the store’s system and end up complaining to management about it. But in all seriousness, there are so many ways to make 1000 a mont without needing a lot of upfront investment. Mystery shopping can be fun, and selling items you no longer need online is another simple way to bring in some cash.
