Princess Kate and Prince William were made Baroness and Baron of the town by then-Queen Elizabeth II in 2011 when they married.

In a short clip uploaded to Reddit by a user, Princess Kate — a vision in light blue — is seen shaking hands with smiling locals and offering short greetings.

Reports say spectators numbering around 3,000 gathered to see the royal couple.

She then makes it to a woman clad in green who she clasps hands with and is promptly told: 'Nice to meet you but it would be better if it was when you were in your own country.'

For her part, Princess Kate responded with a smile and did not address the woman’s remark.

‘Ireland belongs to the Irish,’ the woman added as the royal moved on.

Unsurprisingly, the woman’s actions were met with criticism from those who found the exchange cringeworthy and downright rude.

‘I mean why do that pointless gesture…Kate handled it well,’ one person said on Twitter.

Another added on Reddit: ‘obnoxious stunt….gave her a strong grip there a bit much. I don't like the monarchy or anything it stands for.. a load of bollocks tbh but that’s a cheap shot and does the nationalists no favours.’

Some, however, think the woman was right in her actions.

As I understand the situation is that it is beneficial for the separate entities to be united, and let's not forget that not that long ago Northern Ireland voted to stay within the United Kingdom. I personally don't take into considerations the ravings of Nicola Sturgeon and the way she runs her party the SNP, she rants about referendums one minute and it's out with the begging bowl, there are still questions about where covid funds have disappeared?

The woman clad in green was not rude to Kate at all, after all she began with "Nice to meet you..." Of course its perfectly Ok for her to say that she would rather meet Kate in her own country.
The British Empire caused absolute mayhem in Ireland in their greed to steal the Irish lands, massacred whole families, lined men, women & children up and shot them dead, burned their houses and stole their lands. The Irish were forbidden to speak their own language, to practice their Christain faith or to dance. So I believe this woman clad in green was very polite to Kate, she was just taking a stand for her people and her ancestors.
