Remember the good ol' days of washing dishes without fancy racks or dishwashers? Those were when an upside-down cup was used to lean the plates on, referred to as the ‘Lena’. It was all about teamwork, with one in charge of washing and the other drying, all while having the best conversations next to a sink full of dishes. I thought it was a grimace, accompanied by a deep desire to shove the photographer's camera somewhere very uncomfortable.

I am the only dishwasher in my house - been doing it since I was a kid. My big brother and I were conscripted to do the washing up after dinner. He always opted to dry the dishes so if he didn't like my washing effort would hand me back the plate and yell Reject!

I still wash the dishes this way. Never had a dishwasher, except me!
