Our government could approach the Indian government and request that they close down the scammers. And politely tell their government, that if they fail to do this, we will by any / all means at our disposal, discourage our companies from using Indian IT and Call centers. And mention that we will make no effort to hide our reasons from the press (thus the world)..

I'm a very lucky person!! So far today I've received over $60,000 into my account (that I need to verify). I've also missed delivery of two different parcels so they need to verify my details, I can lose over 16kg in a month if I send my details and I've been nominated for $500 gift cards for Bunnings, Coles and Woolies, all I need to do is verify my details and give them the enclosed code. And it's not even lunchtime yet!!! At this rate I'll have no more money worries for the rest of my life (mostly because they will have stolen it all)!!!

I've gotten a couple of calls about "suspicious activity on my Visa or Mastercard." When I ask, "Which one is it? Visa or Mastercard?", they get nasty and hang up! (I actually don't have either, so I know it's definitely a scam phone call!)

Further to this SCAM,there's another doing the rounds. An email from the Bank telling you there's been some suspicious activity in your bank accounts, don't be fooled the letter head is identical, solution ring your bank straight away.DONOT open email.

I have had several phone calls telling me someone has tried to withdraw from my account, heavy foreign accents, dead give away.

I make all purchases thru PayPal & only use one savings account for this. Somehow scammers got hold of my account details & were direct debiting my account with 2 withdrawals every month for 10 months. Because I was not receiving bank statements. I was unaware of these debits. Until my balance got really low & I contacted the bank& they said the scammers were changing their 'Company' name every 3/4 weeks to make the debits look authentic. PayPal offered no reason how they got my bank account details! The bank gave me 3 months refund. No explanations! They don't investigate these small scams.

If the police or any other authority wants to arrest me for some wrong doing, that I can fix on the internet ,they can at least come to my door in person. I'm happy to sit on the porch and wait for them.

There is a new phishing scam doing the rounds targeting myGov users in Australia. The scam involves an email that appears to be from myGov, claiming that the recipient's account has an 'outstanding refund' owed to them by myGov.

The email contains a link that takes the user to a fake myGov website, where they are prompted to enter their login details. Once the scammers have the login details, they can then access the victim's myGov account and any linked services, such as banking and tax.

The scam was first brought to our attention on the Australian section of Reddit, a popular social media site, with the original poster sharing a screenshot of the fake myGov message. Other users have also reported receiving similar messages, with some providing additional advice and information.

'myGov never sends anything out except a very short email saying you have new mail in your inbox and you are to login to check it,' wrote one user, with another replying 'scams like this are exactly why they don't tell you what's in the message.'

Another user provided further clarification on why this email was immediately suspicious: 'myGov has nothing to do with money anyway. It's just an authentication system and website portal through to the other services like ATO and Centrelink etc.

‘"myGov Refund Service" doesn't even make sense.'

Users also provided examples of various other types of scams doing the rounds.

'[My] Mother in law fell for the “hi it’s your eldest, I lost my phone and I’ve got a new number can you help me pay this bill”. She paid 5 bills before the real son came over and raised the alarm because he had no idea what they were talking about. Got most of the money back in the end but she paid out nearly 5 grand. Not particularly helpful the son was prone to losing his phone and getting new numbers, but it shows how easy it can be. If it looks legit it flies under the radar. Be careful.'

Members, we run scam awareness articles like these every week or two, but sadly people are still falling for them. So please, be vigilant and don't click on any links or enter any details unless you are 100% sure they are legitimate. Here are a few extra tips to help you stay safe online:

• Always be suspicious of unsolicited emails and messages, even if they appear to be from a trusted source. If you're not expecting an email, don't open it.

• Never click on links or attachments in suspicious emails or messages.

• Don't enter your login details on any website unless you are absolutely sure it is legitimate. If you're unsure, type the address of the website into your browser manually to be sure.

• Keep your software and antivirus up to date.

One phone call I played along with for a bank withdrawal in the USA. He claimed he could see I don't have transactions with anyone in USA, I said I don't, agreeing with them. He went on and on. I said interesting you haven't identified yourself, nor the bank, not even the account you are talking about. He quickly named the account and I said I don't have such an account. He said of course you do - it's your saving account! I said really- well what a fool you are- I do transact with the USA, I do not have such an account with this bank. It still took time for him to realise what I had been saying and hung up. The following I day I got the same call from a different number with exactly the same opening statements and account. I said- 'really after talking to you only yesterday.... well you have been...and he hung up before I finished. I guess he was new at it!

I don't open strange emails, answer phone numbers I don't know, nor click on those links that pop up in facebook. Having said that,..... Spam! No not the fatty, salty pink WW2 relic but email spam! What's not to like? On any given day I can have enough money to retire world debt, feed the world's hungry, house the world's homeless, educate the world's children & still have enough left to live in obscene luxury. As if that's not enough I can have boobs to rival Barbie & a member the size & potency of which will strike terror into the hearts of men & women alike.
