Want to Reduce Dementia Risk and Add Years to Your Life? Try This Miracle Fruit

We previously reported how certain diets can help reduce your risk of dementia by up to 30 per cent.

Now, new studies suggest that one particular fruit not only helps in preventing you from developing dementia but could also add five years to your life!

Are you excited to learn about which fruit it is? Keep reading!

According to a series of studies that were all published in the journal Foods, eating grapes can be good for your health, especially if you combine it with a high-fat Western diet.

It is well known that grapes are full of compounds that improve intestinal health and lower cholesterol. They also have a lot of antioxidants, which lessen the risk of developing many illnesses, including cancer.

Antioxidants protect your body from external factors like pollution, ultraviolet light, and cigarette smoke as well as internal factors like inflammation.

Researchers have shown that the antioxidants in grapes help the neurons or nerve cells in the brain work better, preventing dementia from forming. Several studies have already found a link between inflammation in the brain and various types of dementia.

According to a different study, consuming grapes can lengthen your life by up to five years and lower your risk of developing fatty liver disease. The storing of excess fat in the liver results in the prevalent illness known as fatty liver disease which is slowly becoming more prevalent in the world due to the popularity of high-fat foods such as fast food.

Finally, for those who are looking to lose weight, we've got more good news for you!

According to a third study, eating grapes can also increase your metabolism and help you lose weight.

The reason for this is that grapes alter the expression of genes, according to Professor of Pharmaceutics Dr John Pezzuto.

For those of you who don’t know how important gene expression is, it is basically the process that orders the cell to react to its changing environment, allowing them to adapt to the inflammation and other body functions that may age and kill your cells.

In order to better control how the body grows throughout life, scientists are discovering how to turn genes on and off. Neat, huh?

Diet, stress, sleep, exercise, and meditation are all thought to affect how our genes are expressed.

Now, with this new knowledge, it is safe to say that we should be consuming more 'healthy portions of grapes to potentially achieve a longer, healthier life.

Some interesting comments above. Yes they are heavily sprayed with pesticides. There are lots of benefits including excellent amount of fibre, but they are unfortunately one of the highest (if not the highest) fruits in sugar.

Might be marvellous for preventing dementia, but I'm expressly forbidden grapes in my Type 2 Diabetes management, along with watermelon and dates.

Then again, grapes made into wine are not on the 'banned' list....
and with enough wine, who cares about dementia? Gee, I love self-solving problems!
I was just thinking the same thing 🤣

Although a seasonal crop they can successfully be frozen for up to 12 months. Just like blueberries. So buy when at cheapest price in season.

The only drawback is that they are seasonal and cannot be consumed all the times of the year!
Available all through the year. When out of season here we have those that are imported mainly from the USA. Very expensive.
