URGENT RECALL: Popular pasta salad pulled out from IGA and independent grocers due to possible bacterial contamination

Let's face it, everyone loves a good pasta salad. Except maybe the lactose intolerant among us…

It's a staple at summer picnics and parties; regardless of the age group, pasta salads are always a hit.

However, it's disappointing to think that even this classic favourite could be potentially hazardous to our health if not prepared properly.

Fresh Frontier Pty Ltd. recently issued a major recall due to potential bacterial contamination in their Chicken + Bacon Pasta Salad.

This recall was necessary to prevent customers from consuming the contaminated product and leading to outbreaks of the nasty listeriosis virus.

The salad was urgently pulled from the shelves of several supermarkets, including IGA, in Western Australia.

Here’s a list of retailers that sold the affected products:

  • Bunbury Farmers Market
  • Campus & Co – Willetton
  • Cbd Supermarket Plus Liquor
  • Country Pak
  • Farmer Jacks Forrest Rd Fresh
  • Hannan’s Marketplace By Foodworks
  • Hills Fresh
  • Lenards Ellenbrook
  • Merredin Harvest Fresh Food Market
  • On The Run Pty Ltd T/A Otr Roleystone
  • Pause Markets
  • Ready Chef Go, SJ Fresh Produce

If left unaddressed, the listeriosis virus can cause flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, muscle aches, and an upset stomachs.

Additionally, it can pose a greater risk to the safety of certain groups such as pregnant women, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.

The affected products came in three different weights (300g, 550g, and 2.5kg) and were labelled with a Use By Date of February 23.

Food Standards (FSANZ) advised anyone in possession of the products to not consume them.

FSANSZ’s statement read: ‘Listeria monocytogenes contamination has been detected in this product, which can lead to the potentially fever-inducing bacterial exposure.’

'Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.’

Like I've said before ...make your own salads , it's cheaper...easy and you know what goes into it.

There are far too many recalls on salads .

I have posted in the recipe thread ⬅️ heaps of easy and delicious salads and yes even a pasta salad
Agreed, I always find premade pasta salads to have a weird taste

What is going on? Every day there is something re-called because of some Listeria contamination. Our Health Guidelines are being ignored perhaps? There obviously needs to be more 'checks' made on companies making & packing these food items.
