Unhappy Meal: Customers complain Macca's food has gotten smaller

Several regular Macca's customers have complained that the fast food giant has been reducing the size of its signature burgers.
Disappointed customers said they were being ‘cheated’ out of their Filet-O-Fish meal and that it had become much smaller than before.
People have noticed a big difference in size between the Filet-O-Fish, the McChicken, and the beef burgers. This has led to a discussion about whether the fast food chain has changed the sizes of the burgers on the sly.
'Have Mc Donald Filet-O-Fish always been this small? I don't remember it being mini, kid-size like this?!' said one shopper in a Facebook group for deals and markdowns.

It wasn't long before fellow foodies and fans of the fast food chain flocked to the post, with several of them saying that they too have noticed that the burgers are now 'super small' as compared to before.
'We had Big Macs last week. Not only have the buns shrunk, but the meat patties were so thin we could see literally through them. It was as if they had sliced them in half,' one user wrote in the comments section.
A second person agreed and added: 'Just like the quarter pounder, got its name as it was a quarter pound of beef, it's barely that now.'
'Inflated price...deflated goods,' a third went on to say. A fourth joined the discussion and said, 'All Macca's food is now super-small size.'
Surprisingly, not everyone in the Facebook group was convinced that the chain was making their burgers smaller. One user said that Filet-O-Fish has always been relatively small when compared with the other burgers, such as the Quarter Pounder and McChicken sandwich.
'It's the same size bun as the cheeseburger. It's always been small,' a second user agreed and added.

According to a McDonald's spokeswoman, 'there have been no changes to the size of the burgers' in response to complaints from several customers saying that the fast food chain's burgers have downsized.
'We are committed to offering our customers great quality, great value burgers featuring 100 per cent RSPCA approved chicken and 100 per cent Aussie beef,' they said in a statement.
This isn't the first time the popular fast food chain has had to respond to claims that the size of its burgers has been getting smaller over time.
Back in 2020, a Macca's customer who wasn't happy with his meal took a picture of a cheeseburger that was barely bigger than his thumb and said it was about the same size as a cookie.
Because of this, McDonald's had to admit that it had changed the buns on its cheeseburgers as part of its innovation and investment efforts.

Later on, the fast food company released a statement confirming that the overall weight of their burgers remains unchanged. There has, according to Macca’s, been very little change in the proportions of the new bun, and it still weighs the same.
'We haven't changed the size of our beef patty since the first McDonald's restaurant opened in Australia in 1971. We still use 100 per cent Aussie beef patties that our customers know and love.'
