Tomatoes​

Is it only me that is having problems with tomatoes Price has trebled since beginig of year! They are so watery as to be absolutely tasteless and farmers say we don't support them but WHY would you when they produce such rubbish. Much better to buy tinned tomatoes from Italy with at least a taste profile worth eating?

look for GORMET tomatoes.. it's what they now call GROSS LISSIES. Same as my family grew back from my Grandparent's day. Look for the smaller ones if you want sandwiches. I only use tinned if I'm cooking. Depending on price Romas aren't bad either.

Maybe try growing your own. You can't beat home grown toms my husband grows four plants each year when we get a glut of them l make sauce, and when they are coming to an end and we get a glut of green ones l make green relish. I don't eat it but everyone l give it to loves it.
I can't eat toms now because they cause arthritis flair ups on me. If you get stuck with watery toms stew them and freeze them for when you make spaghetti bowl or lasagna.

I do understand l had to remove 14 beautiful standard white roses from my front yard around three years ago due to my disabilities l could not attend them anymore it broke my heart. Take care darling.

In all the tomato dishes I make, i now add 1 tsp of bi-carb soda. Even to store bought tomato soup. Makes a huge difference to the arthritis pain in the hands.
Worth a try.

I find they keep better and retain flavour if not kept in the fridge. I keep mine in an open container on a kitchen bench. They keep really well.
To expensive to waste.
