TikTok user trends after revealing a simple hack for spotting cheap flights – “Just what I needed!”

As the world reopens and Covid-19 cases start to dwindle, chances are you’ve been considering travelling again. The only problem is that a flight to just about anywhere these days can leave you with pretty staggering costs since a lot of popular routes are still in turmoil.

Fortunately, there’s an easy trick to successfully hunting for flight bargains – and you’ll wish you knew about this sooner!

One TikTok user shared a simple hack to finding cheap flights anywhere around the world and all it takes is a few clicks.

Also known as ‘lifeofjazz__’, the user explained that the way you navigate a browser in an attempt to look for flights could have a huge impact on how much you’ll have to spend on a fare.

The tutorial, which centres on securing fares through Google Flights, quickly clocked more than 50,000 views and dozens of comments from users.

Apparently, it all boils down to how you search for the dates of the intended flight. So instead of selecting ‘Specific Dates’ in the search engine, select ‘Flexible Dates’ before punching in whatever month you intend to travel.

She went on to explain that by leaving the final destination blank, opting for non-stop flights only, and putting the price down to $88 in the ‘Filters’ section, the cheapest flights are narrowed down for each given month.

This effortless manoeuvre displays flights around the world costing under $88.

In a span of a few seconds, a list of destinations popped up behind the woman from Berlin to Glasgow, Madrid and Budapest.

Thousands of users were blown away by the woman’s hack, flocking to the comments section of her TikTok video to express their amazement.

“Thank you! You’re a life-saver.” one user wrote.

“This came at the right time! Thanks, girl!” said another.

“You’re really doing the lord’s work for us.” added a third.

While the trick is definitely handy, Canstar finance expert Steve Mickenbecker previously advised consumers to always be extra cautious before jumping on the cheapest flight they can find.

“You may find that following travel hacks to get low-cost deals to save on airfares could blow out your trip times and potentially see you losing a day of your holiday at the beginning and end of your trip,” Mr Mickenbecker explained.

This followed after a flight attendant shared a TikTok video that revealed three ways people can improve their flight experience when flying economy… But one of the hacks enraged first-class passengers.

The first tip suggested that female passengers should keep an eye out for a “secret compartment” in the toilet, which can occasionally hold menstrual products.

However, the second tip sparked some controversy among first-class travellers.

“Everyone thinks you can’t use the first-class bathroom but you totally can,” she said. “As long as you’re not standing in the galley you’re free to use their lavatory.”

The video garnered over 17,000 views, with users showing their approval of the cheeky bathroom tip.

“I’m always using the first-class bathroom,” one person declared.

“What? I thought we couldn’t use the first-class bathroom.” another added.

“Most airlines have a policy that customers must use a lavatory assigned to their class of service. I’m in the industry…” pointed out a third.

“I’ve literally been on flights where they announced that the first-class restrooms were for the first-class passengers only…” chimed another.

The flight attendant’s final advice was to never accept an airline’s first offer when they try to buy you off an oversold flight. Instead, she said, always negotiate additional money or perks.

There are more than enough places of interest in Australia to visit without the need of an airline trip. It will be several more years, if ever, before I hop a plane again.;)

Please don’t use 3rd party sites like Google flights, kiwi flights, webjet, skyscanner, Expedia etc as they still advertising flights prepandemic! Most flights have changed since world opening up & you won’t be advised of any flight changes etc plus the fine print states they won’t refund your money! I am shocked that SDC would encourage seniors to book thru Google flights etc.. I know many who have lost thousands of dollars from these third party websites! Book direct with airline or thru a travel agent!!

After re-reading the main article several times, I don't think SDC is wanting members to BOOK through Google Flights, BUT be aware of its existence!!

I will often search using these sites, like Webjet, Skytracker, Expedia, etc, to find the best fare, and Airline, for the travel i'm doing..........THEN book it with the Airline DIRECT, or a Travel Agent!!

These comparison sites help consolidate the searches. and show which are the best flights for your needs!

What are the sites you said, did people YOU know, lose "thousands of dollars" from third party websites?

As they say, "Caveat Emptor", (let the Buyer beware)

You're Welcome!!
