Recently, a breakfast recipe has been taking social media, particularly TikTok, by storm – and we totally understand the obsession!
This yoghurt custard toast is the latest food trend that millions are raving about. While the words “yoghurt”, “custard”, and “toast” may seem like a strange combination at first, foodies all over the internet are saying that this recipe is their new breakfast favourite.
And it’s so simple and ridiculously easy to make, too! In fact, this recipe has room for you to add your own artistic flair.
Think of it as a simpler version of French toast, minus the messy soaking.
So without further ado, here’s the recipe for yoghurt custard toast.

For the ingredients, you will need:
- 2-3 slices of your preferred bread (we suggest using a thick, dense bread such as brioche or whole wheat)
- 50 g strained yoghurt
- 1 egg
- 3 tsp of honey (add more for the topping)
- Preferred toppings (fruits, choc chips, etc.)
In a bowl, mix the yoghurt, egg, and honey together. Whisk thoroughly until it turns into a smooth runny custard mixture with no lumps.
Then it’s time to prepare your toast. Using your fingers or the back of a spoon, press into the centre of the bread to form a shallow indent.
And then fill that small well with the custard mixture and spread evenly onto the bread. At this point, you’re free to add any toppings you like. Personally, we prefer strawberries and blueberries!
Finish with a drizzle of honey and pop it in the oven for about 12-14 minutes (5-6 minutes in an air fryer), or until the toast is golden brown.
