'This is unfair for locals': Woman shares frustration towards dog owners' shocking behaviour

Communities find ways to keep their areas clean.

However, in the leafy, well-heeled streets of one posh suburb, the local disputes should be over something a bit more highbrow than the contents of a rubbish bin.

Yet, it's the very issue that left one resident fuming over what she perceived as a 'gross' violation of her property.

The controversy began when an anonymous resident dubbed a 'Karen' discovered that her kerbside bin became a dumping ground for bags of dog poo.

She left her bin out for collection the following day.

However, instead of being filled with household waste, it was now home to the discarded bags of passing dog walkers.

She took to social media to vent her frustration.

'Locals passing by and are discarding their poo in my bin. This is unfair for locals to dump this in my bin,' she wrote in an anonymous post.

She pointed out that she was about to leave for a four-month holiday, and the idea of uncollected rubbish was 'gross'.

'It's unfair for me to pop it in a neighbour's bin. Please take your dogs' poo home to your bin,' she added.

The anonymous poster garnered mixed reactions to her post.

Some social media users found humour in her predicament.

'Hang on, you went scrambling down into the bottom of a smelly old wheelie bin to fish out five plastic bags and opened each to see what was in them?' one asked.

'Yes, it is inconvenient but better than stepping in poop on your doorstep,' another wrote.

'Karen' was left with no choice but to ask a neighbour to put her bin out the following week to ensure the waste was collected.

However, she lamented the lack of support from her community.

'I'm really disappointed at the responses. Discard your own pet's faeces,' she wrote.

The median price for a home in the prestigious neighbourhood costs about $2.4 million.

Yet, the incident raised a broader question about community etiquette and the responsibilities of pet owners.

In a suburb like Ascot, it's easy to see why 'Karen' felt aggrieved.

Whether you're a pet owner, a homeowner, or both, communities have to understand that everyone's actions could have an impact on others.
Key Takeaways

We would love to hear your thoughts on this matter. Have you ever encountered similar issues in your neighbourhood? Do you think 'Karen' was right to be upset, or are the dog owners being unfairly maligned? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.

I would never put my dogs waste in some random persons bin. However if my bin was at the kerb it wouldn’t bother me if someone put their dog’s waste in my bin. I’d rather that than they just dump it at the side of the road or not pick up after their dog.

That means if you don't take your bin in as soon as it is emptied you risk having dog poo (which becomes very smelly and a health hazard - flies wouldn't take long to detect it) in your bin for a week. It not a pleasant thought.

If it was due to be emptied, sure, but emptied bins aren't always taken in quickly, so I would not like to find my emptied bin with dog litter bags in it. Take it home!!!

Your dog, your dog's poo, your responsibility your bin, no one else's bin. How would these selfish dog owners feel if I knocked on their door and requested to use their toilet to have a big smelly S***t??? :poop: :poop:

I would not like dog faeces dropped in any of my bins. Each bin has a designated list of items & the wrong deposits could upset the system.

I've told dog owners off for doing it. It's lazy, plus they don't want to put it in their own bins. I've also told dog owners not to let their dog wee on people's front fences or gates. How would they like it if a dog or cat did the same to their property. There's plenty of trees, shrubs & nbn boxes to lift their leg on footpaths. They always reply that dogs like doing it.

At least they're picking up & bagging it. You could say that it could well save yourself from walking on it & splattering all under your shoes etc.
Then it saveS you the arduous job of cleaning the stinking shit off which in itself gives you the stinking shits good & proper.

NOVEZAR.

a bin out for emptying could easily be used for dog droppings, so what is invading your bin a personal afront, its better than dropping it in the gutter or on the grass , thats what bins are for, just because its your bin doesn't mean its off limits, its a safe and clean place to put rubbish grow up

Typical of irresponsible dog owners think they have the right to do what they like , just like they let Dogs leave their crap on footpaths for us to clean up , time councils to fine this behaviour , I have put bags on the fence telling these scum to clean up after their dogs . Having a dog 🐕 is a privilege not a right , they need to lift their game or give the dogs to someone with a little consideration for ratepayers.
