This Easter chocolate delight is back with a bang this 2024!

Australians nationwide are preparing for a time-honoured tradition that brings together family, friends, and, most importantly, chocolate.

Easter in Australia is a celebration uniting everyone in the joy of giving, sharing, and indulging in sweet treats.

And this year, there's a particular Easter delight that's making a triumphant return, captivating the taste buds of thousands after a surprising dip in popularity last year.

The Cadbury Creme Egg ($1.30 in Coles), a classic confection that has been a staple of Easter baskets for generations, is back with a bang in 2024.

This delightful chocolate egg has seen a resurgence that has left shelves rapidly emptying and chocolate aficionados rejoicing.

IGA Australia has reported a staggering 4,000kg of Creme Eggs sold, and with Easter weekend on the horizon, that figure is expected to soar even higher.

What makes this comeback even more remarkable is the Creme Egg's absence from the top 10 list of most popular chocolates in 2023.

It seems that absence truly does make the heart grow fonder, as Australians have rekindled their love affair with the gooey-centred treat.

The Creme Egg's unique appeal lies in its hard milk chocolate shell, which breaks open to reveal a sweet, fondant filling that mimics the yolk of an actual egg—a playful and delicious nod to the Easter egg tradition.

But the Creme Egg isn't the only star of the show. Cadbury has expanded its Easter offerings to include a variety of forms and flavours that cater to every palate.

Earlier this year, the Creme Egg Tub, a $12 frozen dessert with a surprising core, had food lovers wanting more.

The Creme Egg Stick, priced at $9.50 for a four-pack at Coles and Woolworths, also made a much-anticipated return, satisfying the public's clamour for its year-round availability.

The Easter chocolate scene of 2024 is dominated by an impressive lineup from Cadbury, including Marshmallow Egg ($5), Dairy Milk Egg Bag ($10), Caramello Egg Bag ($4.50), Turkish Delight Egg Bag ($4.50), and Hollow Easter Egg ($5).

The Lindt Lindor Assorted Egg Pouch Bag ($7.50) also remains a top choice for those seeking a touch of Swiss luxury in their Easter celebrations.

Australians have taken to social media to express their adoration for the Creme Eggs, with many awarding the treat a five-star rating.

'I'm obsessed with these eggs, I wait for them every year,' one shopper said.

'All my grandchildren will only eat Creme Eggs,' another said.

'I need to stock up.'

'I put a bunch of these in my office lolly jar, and it never fails to bring people past my desk multiple times a day for that chocolate fix,' another revealed.

IT's a wonder anyone can afford to buy Easter eggs with the cost of food these days, unless eating Easter eggs for dinner is the thing now !
