No, surprise really. Good maintenance and proper driving (I'm not referring to chugging along. Purposeful driving is the key). I was always a Holden driver. Though in 2017, my parked Commodore, was written off by a drunk driver. So I had the dilemma of finding a new car quickly. So I brought, a new Corolla. It was after the purchase, I realised my mum had owned a 67' model Corona (now known as Corolla). Wow, we had Cars, 50 years apart. Both Toyota's, white, with black interiors history repeats lol. So am I happy, too right, but I'll give the 2 million kilometre journey for others .

My trusty 2001 model Toyota Corolla has only recently turned over 200,000kms, so still has a l-o-n-g way to go to catch up! I’m also happy to vouch for the reliability of Toyotas. It hardly seems that long ago that we regarded everything that cam out of Japan as cheap and nasty imitations! How far they’ve since come!

Actually, my 1st car in the 1970's was a brand new Toyota Corolla coupe.
It was canary yellow with racing black stripes on the sides.
Absolutely loved it.
Those were the days when new cars were affordable for everybody.

Lots of late model falcon taxis had extreme high mileage on them maybe not 2 million miles but think some were getting towards 1 million klms and they were a lot younger models than 1993

I have a corolla 2015, don't think much of it. The cruise control set at 110 ranges between 93 and 125 not much control in that. The CVS system cuts in way too soon. I have taken it back more times to the dealer than it's worth. They keep saying the cruise control computer has a factory fault that Toyota won't fix until the next redesign. Apparently the CVS is normal, don't think so, thee engine races way too fast. The speedo shows 65 when I do 50, 130 at 110, nowhere near accurate. Next car will NOT be a Toyota.

I drive a 2011 Nissan Xtrail It had 10000 on the clock when we bought it. We drove it from west to east when we moved to NSW from WA and it is just about to click over to 80,000! Doing the sums ... 2 million / 22 yrs / 26 fortnights = 3500km a fortnight, so yes does seem excessive.

The secret is that taxis, and this blokes Toyota never get cold. Cold starts, short runs are what kills engines. Taxi's regularly get well over a million Km no matter the brand.

I agree. Excessive maybe. 22 years driving 1,920,000 kilometres. If he drove it 6 days a weeks with no holidays or days off. That is 6886 days total. Divide that into kilometres travelled. Equates to just under 279 kilometres a day. Dedication on a paper run in New Zealand
