This breakfast recipe uses GRATED boiled eggs – and people are loving it!

On the popular video-sharing platform TikTok, a foodie has shared a recipe for a breakfast toast that makes use of grated boiled eggs. Yes, you heard that right – she prefers her morning eggs shredded to bits!

Ayeh Manfre from Sydney said she has always had a “love-hate relationship” with eggs, that’s why she made a recipe for a toast that makes use of eggs, minus that eggy taste and texture.

So if you’re the type of person who, like Ayeh, prefers to enjoy the benefits and nutrients of eggs without the eggy flavour, then this recipe is for you!

“I don’t know what it is but I have a love/hate relationship with eggs,” said Ayeh on her now-viral video. Then, she went on to show how she makes the “game-changing” breakfast toast, coupled with slices of avocado and pickled onions.

The ingredients she used are:
  • 1 slice of bread (she used sourdough)
  • Spicy mayonnaise
  • ½ Avocado, sliced
  • 1 boiled egg
  • Pickled onions
  • Bagel seasoning
  • Olive oil
Ayeh begins by toasting a slice of sourdough bread until it is golden brown in colour. While the bread is in the toaster, she begins slicing the avocado.

Once done, she adds a drizzle of spicy mayonnaise on top, followed by the avocado slices.

And this is where the magic comes in. Using a microplane grater, Ayeh grates the hard-boiled egg on top of the avocado toast. “It looks so cool like it’s snowing!” she says in the video.

Once the boiled egg had been turned into a chunky powder, she finishes by adding a forkful of pickled onions on top, followed by a sprinkle of bagel seasoning for that extra toasty flavour. For “good luck”, she tops it off with a drizzle of olive oil.

Now all that’s left to do is eat!

It seems that many fellow foodies shared the same opinion on eggs, and commented about how much they love the hack.

“This is so smart!” wrote one user. “I'm not the biggest egg fan but am excited to try this out,” she added.

A second person wrote: “I completely agree with you!! It doesn’t even taste like egg this way!”

Some users even suggested more toppings for the breakfast toast, such as feta cheese, pesto, and even kimchi!

What would we do without eggs?
Eggs are incredibly versatile.
I am just thinking of those who have egg allergies, and have to steer clear.
Is egg allergy one of those allegies children grow out of?
Sadly...my daughter at 30 is still allergic to egg. One egg in a cake recipe seems to be ok... but she can't eat a boiled egg, or quiche or anything that has raw egg (like tirimesu with whipped raw egg...that was a disaster!!) Or proper egg mayonnaise..... but has gotten over her milk allergy (however, is so used to milk alternatives she still uses them)..

Ah, I'm sorry for your daughter and her egg allergy.
I am pleased she's outgrown the milk allergy, though.

We found out the hard way that our 23 yr old son was allergic to Duck Eggs!! Chicken eggs are fine, he can eat a dozen at a time. But when he made a omelette with 3 duck eggs oh my goodness I though he was going to die.. took him 6 days to recover properly.

I like savory scrambled eggs on toast . . . Whisk a couple of larger eggs with a little milk, salt and pepper. gently fry some chopped onion with some chopped bacon , then add chopped spinach leaves and beaten eggs. . As the egg starts to cook ( or set ) gently lift the egg with a spatula a stir around a few times till it mixes with the other ingredients and sets, , serve on toast . Yummy

Grated egg?????? What is wrong with mashing it with a fork? The only way to get the true taste of an egg is to eat it on it's own whether it be soft boiled/scrambled/poached OR hard boiled and MASHED with a fork and on a sandwich. The only additives I would use if in a sandwich is curry or mayo. Just sayin'.
