Do you have a shoe storage problem? Do you have more shoes than you know what to do with? Are shoes literally protruding from every nook and cranny in your home? As fellow shoe-a-holics, we totally get it!
That is why having a handy shoe storage rack right next to the door can be extremely useful. However, we have to admit that they have a natural tendency to become somewhat disorganised, not to mention taking up a fair bit of space as well.
Here in this article, one mum shows us that we might have been using our shoe storage racks wrong this whole time!
The woman who goes by the username @cleanwithjoanne on TikTok shared her simple method for fitting more shoes into a storage rack, and many people have admitted that this has been a complete game-changer for them.

"Show me the life hack you randomly saw one day that is now an unconscious standard practice in your life," said the voiceover in Joanne's video.
In the video, the woman can be seen placing a pair of shoes in a horizontal position on top of the rack before shaking her finger and indicating "No."
The next thing she does is pick up the shoes, turn them so that the toes are facing down, and place them between the bars so that they are stored vertically.
Because they are stacked vertically along the bars, Joanne is now able to store more shoes than she would be able to if they were laid out horizontally across the bars.
While this is a convenient way to store some shoes, it is not suitable for all types of footwear. As seen in Joanne's video, there is a pair of boots stored flat on the bottom row. In addition to that, it is possible that this storage method will not work for shoes that are too small or too large.
Within a matter of days, Joanne's storage tip for shoes amassed more than 787,000 views, making it an instant hit among her many followers.
Many people who watched the clip were surprised that they had never considered placing their shoes in the rack in such a manner. Others, meanwhile, are planning to purchase the Ikea rack now that they know how much it can hold.
"How have I never thought about this?" one follower wrote in the comments section. "This is brilliant, thank you!"
"Wait, what? I just threw this rack away because it didn't hold enough shoes…" another user admitted.
Some followers even suggested an extra tip to avoid having to look at the unsightly soles of your shoes if you store them vertically. One user mentioned that she just tucks them with the soles facing the wall when she stores them.
If you like the idea of storing your shoes vertically but lack the space for a shoe rack, you have another option.
Aisling, who goes by the handle @ash_mul on TikTok, recently uploaded a video to her channel in which she demonstrates the ingenious way that she organises her footwear.
She added a half dozen or so towel rails to the end of a wardrobe, and then she tucked the shoes in between the rails and the wardrobe with the toes facing down.
Now that you have access to not one but two fantastic shoe storage options, there is no longer any justification for your shoes not being neatly organised (and you might even be able to fit in a few more)!
