One 24 year old man posing as a wedding guest has been charged with a whopping total of 27 offences including aggravated burglary and theft from eight wedding events across Melbourne over two months.

The thief allegedly bagged jewellery, gift cards, and about $16,000 worth of cash from just three wedding ceremonies.

“It was the best wedding that he apparently ever attended, and he was feeling awesome and lucky on the night – three quarters of our wishing well were missing.” one of the brides who was a victim of the theft said in an interview.

“We definitely felt really violated. He was mingling with people, he was downstairs drinking at a bar… And we had no idea he was there.”

The authorities explained that the man blended into the crowd by claiming to be a guest at the venues hosting wedding receptions before heading towards the gift tables and looting the items.

The man allegedly crashed weddings across Brunswick, Brunswick East, Fitzroy, Ripponlea, and Hawthorn in a span of three weeks, from April 2 to May 22, before the police were finally able to catch him.

Detectives from the Moreland Crime Investigation unit found the local in Carlton on Tuesday and executed a search warrant at the address, discovering jewellery and gift cards stashed at the residence.

The wedding crasher has been released on bail and is set to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 18 October.

I've heard of people who read the funeral notices in the newspaper looking for funerals where it states refreshments following the service. They mingle with the congregation for a free feed.

Take his car, his possessions and anything that he owns of value, sell them and pay back the brides and grooms. Then lock him up. Judging from his feminine little prance, he won't be lonely behind bars.
