Merry Christmas to all, have a wonderful day with family and friends.
I met a man when I was young, called Cecil McIwraith, he had a cream guide dog called Casey.
Casey took Ces everywhere without hesitation or reward, just faithfulness. Ces was responsible for the beep on the traffic signals that help the blind cross the road.
So, I choose Guide dogs, for the blind.

Merry christmas happy new year everyone.
My vote goes to Wildlife Warriors - help the wildlife and keep Steve Irwin's good work going!

Such a generous thought - thank you. Any Women's Shelters would be my preference.

Happy Christmas to all at SDC and my fellow members. As this year comes to a close we have many reasons here in Australia to be thankful although we do have far too many people homeless and/or in need of assistance just be safe. With this in mind I would like one of the charities who feed the homeless every night given a hand. Thank you for making this gesture possible.

Everyone of those Charitable Organisations Are worthy Recipients. Some of the messages go to the Matthew Tablet for the Homeless
So it will go to the Charity who has the most votes for it ? May the most choice
suggested message be helpful to make a difference to whoever it goes too.

What a wonderful idea, thank you for doing this for us. I would nominate it go to a Children's Hospital.

I always donate to The Lost Dogs Home as they helped us with our dog being missing years ago. (We were very lucky to get him back). They were very kind and i feel for all the dogs/cats that are there missing their families. Merry Christmas everyone.

I love the goodwill that's generated by the SDC staff to create a sense of community.
With the cost of living so high and many people struggling, a donation to a Food bank for the days post Christmas would help so many doing it tough.
Thank you SDC. xx

Wonderful idea.
I have two charities that I regularly support.
The Salvation Army was there for me when I was going through a traumatic life event. They did not care what my faith was, where I was from, or who I was. They gave me the strength and emotional support to move on, where I may have chosen to throw in the towel.
The other, is Soul Hub (Life Church) in Newcastle.
I am in there every week, and witness the sea of people they offer food and support to, no questions. Everyone matters.

Merry Christmas to you all.....my favourite is the Cancer Council.
Great idea. I enjoy reading the Seniors news letter. The charity that I would like to support would be the Breast Cancer Foundation. Have a blessed Christmas.

What a wonderful idea SDC. I love reading your stories. The charity I would like to support is Animal Welfare League. My last two companion animals have come from them and I know that they dont' euthanaise any healthy animals. Otherwise I wouldnt have my current little stray/smoocher cat. Merry Christmas to all and have a safe and Blessed time with friends/family or whomever you chose to spend it with. 🧑‍🎄🎅😻

My elected charity is the South East Community Links, based at Dandenong, Noble Park and Springvale, all being south eastern Melbourne suburbs.

SECL provide support for those who are homeless or a risk of becoming so, living at or below the poverty line due to unemployment and are totally non-judgemental.

They have personally provided support numerous times with food vouchers and procuring an interest free loan for a laptop required for my current studies. And a special shout out to Carolyn and Paul of SECL, frontline staff who negotiate the perils of Dandenong Railway Station every week day for the past few months. They have become my friends during this time. Unfortunately, due to cutbacks in State and Federal Government funding, their ability to provide support for those in need has diminished somewhat for residents of the Greater Dandenong Local Government Area.

My apologies if this sound like an advertisement for the above organisation, but they deserve the exposure.

Many thanks to the SDC Community!

This brings to mind the time I spent in the British Merchant Navy, If you did something wrong you could be logged for the offence and most times it was an amount of pay forfeited, for example if you got on the grog and fell through? meaning you were to pissed to turn to? Then the Skipper would log you a days pay and a fine depending on the offence. Now you had the opportunity to designate a recognised charity for your fine to go to. Of course the joke, was but rarely ever stated out loud was that you'd like the fine to be paid to the Battersea home for unwed mothers, seeing as it was a bastard taking it off me, then it might as well be a bastard that gets it.
At the time the equivalent labourers wage in OZ was about 25 quid a week. Our pay was about 12 pound ten a month, of course overtime boosted that significantly plus you had the ability of duty free smokes and that If I recollect the dearest Bottle was Drambuie at 5 bob a bottle, but mostly crew just got duty free beer about 7 bob a case? although don't quote me it's been a long time. Anyway for it's worth if you think fits the parameters then I'll leave the choice of charity to you.
