I come from many generations who have served in the Defence Forces & lost beloved uncles and cousins in, and as a result of, both World Wars & in Vietnam. My brother is still currently serving in the Army. For us, the most poignant part of ANZAC Day is the our adored father, who served in the RAAF, died only a few years ago on ANZAC Day. He had been very unwell but his doctors said he could have months, weeks or days - they just didn't know. When we woke for the Dawn Service on the day he died I said to my sisters "Dad will leave today" and they thought I was a bit crazy at the time but he did, at 6pm. We had the whole day with him at least.

Hi All, well it’s not a happy day for anyone today that’s Australian as so many of us have lost loved ones through all the wars Australia has been involved with. Myself I had four in the first and six in the second world wars killed in action but only one in the first day of the Gallipoli campaign. My father and his brother came back from Vietnam so I was lucky there. Myself I served as a reserve in the army for four and a half years as a corporal in the early eighties so as you can see that Anzac Day means the world to me and I’m off to go to Guildford memorial now so bye all……Rick 62

Hi All, I almost forgot, my own grandfather was a desert rat in North Africa and was badly wounded, he ended up with a plate in his shin and a plate in his forearm but he carried on right through to the end of the war, I’m so proud of him and all the Australian’s who fought for us all, so this is why it’s there day and we should all never forget what they gave up for us……Rick 62

Anzac Day means a lot to me. I have 3 Great uncles that were Rats of Tobruk. My grandfather served. My other grandfather was an Anzac. My husband served. My son in law is serving. There were a lot of other family members that served too. And it’s my father in laws birthday. He also served. He made a career of it

I would like to thank firstly the Seniors Club for having the upmost respect in honouring all Service Men & Women on this Anzac Day
Anzac Day has always been of great signifigance to me personally as I am from the generation of Baby Boomers. I grew up with children whose Fathers had also served in WW2 & remember very well how close we all were as a community. Families were offered land & house packages in the St. Elmos Estate, Campbelltown NSW with very low repayments to help support returned Soldiers after having being through the horrors of War, get back on their feet & into employment. My heartfelt thanks goes to a Land Developer Neil McLean who made this all possible
My Father was in BCOF - British Commonwealth Occupation Forces in Signals Regiment Morse Code Operator arrived February 1946 in Japan at 18 years of age and continued with the Signals Regiment until 1948

Hi All me again, I wish I knew how to put a photo in here but I’m afraid I’m not up to speed with the technology yet, anyway I went to the Guildford service this morning and wow what a turn out, I’m not joking, it was three times bigger than I have ever experienced in Guildford before, it was great to see so many Australians coming along with their children to honour our fallen and returned, it actually brought a tear to my eye …..Rick 62
