The SDC ANZAC Day Dawn Service: Jokes from the Trenches of the ANZACs

Last year, I found a bunch of jokes from the trenches of the ANZAC's and ran them in our newsletter, but so many of our members responded with even better jokes! So I thought I would feature a few jokes from the trenches of the ANZAC's shared by SDC Members below! If you do want to reach the jokes from our 2022 ANZAC Day Dawn Service newsletter, you can read them here!

Member @Not too old shared this joke:

The Young Army recruits arrive at Camp for their first day in the Army. The RSM tells them all to line up and then proceeds to ask each their name.

Off they go, BROWN, SMITH, BLACK, JONES. The next recruit says John.

The RSM barks out, we only use surnames here son, what is yours he asks.

The reply comes back "DARLING".

The RSM replies thank you John.

Member @Joydie shared this joke:

A young private during WWII training for battle, arrived at the parade ground with dirty boots and was abused up hill and down dale by the company commander. When he’d finished his rant, he looked at the private and said: ‘I bet if I get killed in this war, you’ll find my grave and piss on it.’ The private replied: ‘No sir! I’ve promised myself that if I survive, I’ll never stand in line again!’

As much as a serious day today is, I think it would be amiss not to touch on the humour of our ANZACS. There are so many stories out there about the Aussie spirit and the Aussie humour that Australian soldiers displayed even at the most difficult times, and I think that's something we should carry on today.

Lest We Forget.

I’m not from a country that experienced citizens going to war fighting for their country and helping citizens of other countries. However, I respect every man and woman that has fought in any war and for their grieving families left to carry on without them. God bless all of you.
