"Why do you shop at Aldi on Wednesdays?" Queenie asks in the video, imitating a person who is clueless about the hack.
She explains: "Because Wednesday is the best day to shop at Aldi! It's when they have new deals and it's when they restock."
The now-viral video gained traction on TikTok, garnering more than 118,000 views and hundreds of comments from Aussies who had no idea about the hack.
If you're curious why Wednesdays in particular, we did some more digging and here’s some useful information that we found:
1. Aldi rolls out new prices and 'produce picks of the week' on Wednesdays
A former Aldi shift manager (USA based, but we think the processes are similar here in Australia) took to Reddit to reveal that the retailer offers discounted prices on fresh produce on Wednesday because it tries to clear out the shelves to make room for the produce from the next shipment.
"New prices roll out every Wednesday and they have new ‘produce picks of the week’ which means that you can get a steal on some produce and other products,” the former manager replied to the Reddit user asking him why Wednesday is the best day to shop at the supermarket.
Additionally, the former shift manager suggests that “if you want the freshest produce" you should shop at the store when they first open or right after 3 pm as staff members replenish and rotate products around this time.

2. "Dig" into the shelves to score the freshest produce
While this is no little known tip, the former shift manager says that staff members often "rotate" the products on display, placing the new arrivals at the back while the older ones on display are pushed to the front.
He says: “Always dig to the bottom of the pile though, we rotate the old produce to the top. Usually, you can put your hand on the product and if it's not cold then it has been sitting out overnight or throughout the day.”
"Since this produce is marked down so cheap, it goes fast so it's always being replaced with new product. It'll never just sit all day without being replenished."
3. Aldi Special Buys
Let's be honest, we often take these deals for granted even though Aldi always announces them on their website weekly.
But, did you know that the items included in the retailer's weekly "Special Buys" only come in limited stocks?
You read that right, folks! The Special Buys, which are sold at very low prices, are sourced from specialty producers, which means that the quality of the products is often superb for the price you’re paying.
And Aldi only sells a limited number of these items so once the products are gone from their shelves, they are gone for good!

An Aldi representative confirmed that the retailer procures the products from producers months before they are displayed in their stores, meaning they don't have the ability to rapidly replenish and re-stock popular Special Buys.

4. Other days to shop at Aldi
The former shift manager recommends customers ask staff members which days they usually receive their shipment as the products from these shipments are guaranteed fresh.
“When you're in there, ask what days they get their delivery truck. Those are the days you want to go because that product basically came straight from the farm (or off the boat) to the warehouse then straight to the store.”
There you have it, folks! We hope this little known hack can help you with your grocery shopping at Aldi!
