The $19 IKEA 'unicorn' vase that everyone's talking about – Get it before it sells out!

We’re all on the lookout for ways to spruce up our homes without breaking the bank. One of the easiest ways to do that is by adding a bit of colour and light.

You can either give your walls a fresh coat of paint or get rid of the grime and dust that’s on the surface of your windows. In any case, you can easily beautify your home with minimal effort and without doing a complete home renovation project.

But if you’re not in the mood to move or clean anything just yet, another way to improve your living space is by adding vases to your rooms. One vase, in particular, has caught the attention of home improvement fans due to its dazzling design.

IKEA customers are ‘obsessed’ with an iridescent new vase that’s part of the furniture design company’s latest collection.

The mother-of-pearl Räffelbjörk vase has a flowing and playful shape inspired by rainbows. According to the product description, the shimmering finish is further enhanced by the vase’ intricate and distinctive groove pattern.

It is available in one colour (mother-of-pearl) and is sold in two sizes: 12 cm ($19) and 20 cm ($49).

‘You can also use the vase as a glass sculpture – or why not combine the two different sizes in your own arrangement?’ The description states.

Because of its incandescent properties, the vase reflects sunlight off it beautifully – making it the perfect home for your favourite flowers.

Swedish award-winning interior designer Lisa Hilland was the one who provided the concept to the retail giant.

She said: ‘It’s a vase – but it’s also a glass sculpture. When I designed RÄFFELBJÖRK, I wanted to make a playful and decorative object that also sparks creativity in whoever is looking at it.’

Lisa Hilland has received numerous distinctions for her work, including the Lauritz Icon Award 2017, Furniture of the Year Sköna Hem 2019, and Plaza Interiör’s Sustainability Prize 2021.

Ms Hilland continued: ‘You can use it for flowers, combine several in different sizes for your own arrangement – or whatever you think is fun to your heart’s content.’

Customers who have already bought the item gave it stellar ratings.

‘A beautiful addition with a unique design. Can’t wait to fill it with beautiful flowers,’ one shared.

‘Very versatile as to what you can put in it, but equally, it looks great as a standalone ornament,’ another replied.

Another agreed and shared that the product was ‘a bit of a treat’ for them. ‘It looks rather well with my indoor garden,’ they added.

‘Had my eye on this since I first saw it and finally managed to order the large size. Looks so much better than on the website and is a fabulous item that looks more expensive than it was. Beautiful as sculpture or vase. Excellent value for money,’ someone else explained.

IKEA fans have been encouraging each other to ‘run’ to their nearest stores for the popular buy.

One TikTok user from Sydney, Adam Widgy, shared a video on the social media platform saying, ‘This has got to be the prettiest vase I've found from IKEA.’

‘The iridescent colours are just so mesmerising,’ he added.

Another TikTok user, Denise, posted a video where she styled the glass vase in her home with magenta carnations and baby’s breath flowers.

She remarked that the vase’s colourful features showed up brilliantly in natural light.

‘I'm so in love with this,’ she admitted.

Many flocked to her comments to compliment the vase.

‘I actually gasped; it’s so pretty,’ one stated.

‘I need that vase,’ someone else said.

While another commented that they bought the vase in two sizes immediately after it was released. ‘They’re lovely,’ they added.

‘I was in IKEA yesterday and couldn’t find it! I was so sad,’ a fourth responded.

‘Beautiful! Looks just like a unicorn,’ one more replied.

Maybe for young people starting out but not for me. Just handed more beautiful items to Vinnies for them to sell and raise donations and not junk stuff. More to follow glass vase and clean out. It's can be hard parting with items that you have carefully chosen in life and not cheap junk like this $19 that can chip and break.
